I’ve been to all of the Tora Sushi’s and have never had an unpleasant experience. The other day I went in at 5:50pm. It took awhile for the server to greet me and when he did I was ready to order. I am a bit annoying with my orders, take off this- add that, but the server repeated my order and on we went. He gave me my delicious miso soup and all seemed well. Next, another server brought out my appetizer and let me know the server didn’t put my roll in and forgot what it was. This is fine, it totally happens, and so I repeated to her. I did find it odd that the server had brought me my soup and didn’t ask then and that neither of them wrote it down (which I admire, but not for annoying orders like mine). I was in a hurry so I paid while waiting for the roll. When it came out I ate super fast but I knew something wasn’t right, and realized it on the last bite. Krab makes me ill, and that was one of the two items I requested not be on it, but I ate it and that’s on me. I should have double checked. I got to my appointment and got very sick though, which was super embarrassing. Regardless, I think this experience would have been a lot better had the original server told me he forgot when bringing the soup, or if the second server wrote down my order knowing it was a weird one. The soup and app were yummy. I suppose the bad experience was part me not checking before shoveling in my food in quick though, so I take some blame. I’m sure they would have made it right had I told them before I ate it, so I can’t fault...
Read moreThe food was good, and it was a busy night so it took a long time. That is not why I gave this place a 1 star. I gave it a one star due to the waitress not following Covid protocols. I sat and watched her take my order to another table sept 5th at 7:30pm. When the customers brought her back to the table and informed her that it was not their order, I saw her go to another table, where they were also confused as she attempted to give them the tray of sushi. Finally she came to our table, with the same plate of sushi, now at two other customers tables, and tried to act like it came straight from the kitchen. I was shocked and had to process this for a minute. When she came back I told her we wanted a new one as others had touched it and it was at 2 other tables. She tried to play it off by denying it but stated "Okay I'll just get you another." But at that time the customer from the first table also saw what she tried to do and came over. She told the waitress "Look you can't do this. Its not safe." The waitress denied it but now there are 2 customers, from different tables, telling her what she is doing is unsafe and unsanitary. She went to the kitchen and got a new plate of sushi but I could not eat it in good faith and had to leave. I realize they were busy and rushed, but that should be no excuse for serving tainted food to customers and...
Read moreI hope I'm the exception because it was a slow lunch hour on a Sunday, while the farmers market was right outside.
The place smelt like urine, the tables and chairs had that weird sticky wood feel, as if they'd been slightly brushed by the same Lysol infected rag for years. In-between the cracks of the seats, you can see grime, grease, and food bits building up. The chicken terriaki bowl had a slight flavoring of fish, as though they had thrown frozen chicken on the same skillet as they fried some tuna. The teriyaki sauce had NO flavor. Kroger Brand sauce has more flavors, it's like it was watered down. They put mashed potatoes in the teriyaki bowl and in my daughter's Bento box. I've never seen a Sushi restaurant serve mashed potatoes.
I used the restroom. It was a mistake to claim the restaurant smelled like urine, because the bathroom was quite the assault on my senses. Public restrooms on the waterfront are more kept.
The waitress was really pleasant and attentive. She even grabbed the lunch special board for another patron and brought it over to show all the options.
My kid said the California...
