The Iron Pizza Company — Restaurant in Athol

We went here on a Tuesday evening about 6:20pm. There were probably only 4 other tables at the time including outside. We sat ourselves at a dirty table which was fine. We were not even greeted for about 10 minutes, when a disheveled server took our drink order. Another 10 minutes passed before we got our waters and a pitcher of beer. Then another 5 minutes passed and the server took our order at about 6:45. Shortly after that about 3 more tables came in. I mention that because all 3 of them were served their meals before we even received the side salads we ordered. When the salads were brought by someone else, we asked for the dressing that wasn't brought. It never arrived. At about 7:45 when we noticed that the other 3 tables were eating, we asked someone at the bar and they told us it would be 5 more minutes. It took 10. In that time, the other server, whom i can only assume was the manager on duty, came and asked what was wrong. We said we wanted to know where our Pizzas were. She went back and came back with a slip and said "your side salads were ordered at 645. it takes about an hour to cook our pizzas. this is normal" I let them know that 3 other tables had been served before us even though they had been here much later than us. "She said just because we ordered before them, doesn't mean we'll get our pizza before them" I was so baffled by that logic that i moved on and I let her know that i was a server for years and i understand being shorthanded and super busy, but with all things considered, this service has been extremely poor even on a generous level. Her demeanor the whole time was rude and she obviously only cared about proving me wrong. There was no apology and no accepting of the poor service. The next time she passed by, she even gave me some stink eye. I will say that our server was obviously very overwhelmed and very apologetic after the fact. We still tipped her 20% because everybody has a bad day. To start, I understand a lack of staffing at restaurants, and I am the most patient person ever. I told my boyfriend to be nice. However, our experience today was UNACCEPTABLE ON ALL ACCOUNTS.

To note, we originally left a positive review, but had to delete it and replace with our horrific experience INCLUDING THEIR UNACCEPTABLE RESPONSE.

We called to order a pizza at around 3:30 pm. Someone answered and asked if we could hold. We said ok.

She sat down the phone, but they have no hold, and I told my boyfriend to not hang up because I knew they had one line.

After “holding” for 20 minutes, while listening to EVERYONES conversations, my boyfriend hung up. Tried to call back, but like I knew, the phone was off the hook so it was busy.

So he drove over there. He was at the bar at 4:17, maybe a few minutes earlier than that, I’m basing this timeline off my phone texts.

At 5:55 I learn the server NEVER PUT IN OUR ORDER. Waste of time.

You tried to resolve it with a free large pizza, a pizza we would NEVER EAT.

We live an exit away. He came back, we opened the boxes, ALL THREE PIZZAS WERE COLD! COMPLETELY COLD!

AND you messed up our orders boyfriend put in at 4:17ish! And repeated to you at 5:55ish when you said you never put in our order! It’s 6:13 right now btw.

I don’t care about a free large pizza. It’s not what I ordered, and 2+ hours (longer considering we called first) is RIDICULOUS.

I gave you allowances for lack of staff, but 2-3 hours, wrong pizza given to us, on hold listening to customers and staff talking, cold disgusting pizza, it’s simply unacceptable. Maybe close for a while until you’re fully staffed and trained.

UPDATE: SEE THEIR RESPONSE! Banning this horrific pizza place! Thank god another one...

Stopped in on our way to Sandpoint after hearing how good it was. The parking lot was PACKED full, which is something I didn’t know was possible in Athol Idaho. Upon entry there was so much going on, it was eclectic with several different vibes yet somehow it flowed perfectly which is something I have not seen in a restaurant! One section is a pool hall/arcade, then we have bear skins and deer mounts, a psychedelic hallway to the bathroom complete with black light posters, then brewery feel in the bar. I love the intuitive design! I will say it took quite a bit of time to be helped, we were acknowledged when we walked in but not helped for 15-20mins. Our server was AWESOME though, he was very efficient and made sure we were happy/taken care of, great warm personality. We ordered the beer cheese bread as an app which was great, the cheese was def cheesin with good pull and the dough they use has great consistency. We also ordered a half “Death by Meat” and half “Gangsters Paradise” , it seemed like the pizza took FOREVVERR but both options were phenomenal! They were super busy, again I was shocked seeing so many at 1 place in Athol, but it was a full house for the entire 2 hours we were there, door dash and pickup orders non stop! I think the waits that we experienced had less to do with the actual service and more with understaffing in such a busy place. As we ordered a lava cake for dessert, live music began to set up and play which was very cool, everyone in all parts of the restaurant were smiling and having fun. This place is definitely worth the stop, I really wish i would have gotten the pizza flight, but at least it gives me an excuse to go back! Great energy, great...
