Larissa, owner and sole baker of Bakey Bakes, is a modern Wonder Woman. I was drawn to her baked goods from various social media posts I had seen from great friends of mine attending her pop-ups around Atlanta as well as purchasing her incredible treats. I had yet to have the pleasure of tasting her delicious bakes, yet through her impeccable online reputation, wonderfully up to date website, and multiple outstanding reviews, knew I wanted her to be my husband and I's wedding baker. Upon reaching out to her for consultation and experiencing her excellent communication, I was sold. Larissa provides beyond exceptional customer service, is super prompt and responsive, gives suggestions, solutions, and advice as needed, and is knowledgeable in all things baked. Mind you, my husband and I, had still yet to try any of her unique treats until the day of the wedding, yet she made us both feel so confident and comfortable with her expertise that we knew we had nothing to worry about. I write this review now, to let you know we truly didn't have anything to worry about, and her baked goods - ALL of them - were so deliciously flavored. I love how her nationality influences her treats and that nothing she makes is too sweet, allowing for the true flavor profile of her desserts to shine through. She freshly baked 14 desserts, a groomsmen cake, and our wedding cake for the wedding dessert table of our dreams; none of which tasted artificially flavored, stale, or over the top. Everything was crisp, chewy, moist, and so delicately delicious. She was even kind enough to help with flavor profiles (we ended up choosing blackberry preserves to go in our lemon wedding cake with lavender buttercream) and to set aside two of each treat for us in a special Bride & Groom box, since everyone knows the wedding day is sometimes such a whimsical frenzy that the bride and groom often don't have the time to just sit and eat! But eat we did - her treats stayed fresh even while we traveled the next day for our honeymoon. They got massive and multiple compliments from everyone at the airport who saw them and were able to be enjoyed even when we arrived in Spain. The leftover treats (the few that were remaining, as all were pretty quickly consumed by our wedding guests) and our wedding cakes that we were able to freeze before leaving, thawed out beautifully when we returned home and were enjoyed over the holidays as well as in the New Year. We cannot thank Larissa enough for the remarkable baker and professional that she is. I look forward to purchasing from her again and again. She is one of a kind in Atlanta and a delight...
Read moreBeyond thrilled and astonished with Larissa's cakes for my wedding this past weekend!! THEY WERE FANTASTIC! Awe-Inspiring!! I literally cried when they were unboxed, my wedding planner was trying to pull me away, but I gave her the "one second" finger, because I was HAVING A MOMENT. Ever since I found her on instagram during the pandemic, I have been drooling over the intricacy and skill in her design work. There was nobody else we even considered when choosing a baker. The premise: we had a Lord of the Rings/ Silmarillion-themed wedding, and had wanted the two trees of Valinor and a hobbit-hole-themed set of cakes. With minimal instruction, Larissa not only researched, but spent DAYS constructing the most beautiful (and appropriately-themed) cakes that seemingly sprung from our imagination. All her hard work and expertise paid off. Not only did these stunners look the part, all of our guests ate seconds and thirds because they were just that tasty! When I tasted the cake during the cutting, I ascended to the realm of buttercream and joy. Every detail, from the hand-made mini mushrooms, to the keep-stake hobbit door, to the soaring trees, was executed beyond perfection! (The two tree cake even matched the groom's suit, incidentally.) We consider ourselves supremely blessed to be one of the last few weddings before Larissa goes on hiatus. We also have had her cookies, which are also phenomenal. When you hire Larissa, you hire an artist that works in the medium of cake. If you don't like the clearly-stated rules, want a cheap option, and don't cut cakes correctly, go elsewhere. If you want a work of art that also tastes amazing, choose Larissa! Thank you again!! (More...
Read moreLarissa, the owner of Bakey Bakes is a magician. Her cakes are always so beautifully designed and meticulously done, the attention to detail and care she puts into her work is really unparalleled.
Her collaboration process for a custom cake design is very thoughtful, organized, and professional. She's very communicative so you always know what to expect and when to expect it. Working with her is like working with an artist, by providing her with good creative direction, you can trust that she'll create something not only on brief, but beyond your wildest imagination.
The flavors she has curated for both her cakes and cookies are such a delight (definitely don't sleep on the cookies, they might look unassuming but they're incredible). For the custom cakes, you're able to pick and choose the flavor combination you desired, but she is also great at helping guide you on what will work well together based on your preference. I also really love how she brings a taste of Portugal to her bakes!
You can score some amazing treats from her via flash sales on her instagram @bakey.bakes, or place orders through her website when she opens her calendar at the beginning of the month. I truly can't...
