This park is wonderful for its expansive green space, a public swimming pool, basketball courts, and a big Pagoda with stone steps for community gatherings. It is one of the oldest parks in Atlanta. On one end of the park is Bankhead MARTA Station, on the other a kids' playground, a well-kept field for ball games complete with a few bleachers—and train tracks upon which trains run several times a week, sometimes several times in a day! Maddox Park is a real find, an almost secret park in that it offers so much, is so well kept—yet is not crowded with people. Can someone please tell us what's wrong with that??? We go to these parks because we grew up in them and so did our parents!!! These parks are for recreation and to have somewhere to go after work to wind down and interact with friends and family!!!! We can't bring any kids. It's nowhere for them to play!!!!! Read moreWith the train station being literally at the park, the industrial ambiance is quite relaxing, if you ask me. The Marta train station is located across the street. Thankfully, a pavilion is close in distance to cool off at & is perfect for hosting parties. The basketball court is gated and filled with great street players.
