Howell's Kitchen and Bar is a hidden gem, tucked away in a tranquil corner that offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From the moment I stepped into this charming establishment, I was enchanted by its understated elegance and inviting atmosphere. One of the standout features of Howell's is its breathtaking sunset option. The outside area is nothing short of a picturesque setting for a memorable dining experience. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the surroundings, you can't help but be captivated by the beauty of it all. It's the perfect backdrop for a romantic evening or a peaceful dinner with friends. Now, let's talk about the food. I had the pleasure of trying the steak frites, and I must say it was a revelation. The steak was cooked to perfection, with a juicy interior and a delightful seared crust that locked in all the savory flavors. The frites, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, were the ideal complement to the steak. It was a harmonious pairing that left my taste buds dancing with joy. What truly impressed me about Howell's Kitchen and Bar is their commitment to culinary excellence. The menu boasts a well-curated selection of dishes, each prepared with care and precision. Whether you're a steak enthusiast like me or have a penchant for other culinary delights, you're sure to find something that tickles your taste buds. Beyond the food, the service at Howell's is impeccable. The staff exudes warmth and professionalism, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. They're attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a helpful suggestion or a friendly smile. As I savored my meal on the patio, with the gentle breeze and the stunning sunset as my companions, I couldn't help but appreciate the serenity and magic that Howell's Kitchen and Bar offers. It's a place where you can escape the noise of the world and savor delectable cuisine in an idyllic setting. In conclusion, Howell's Kitchen and Bar is a quiet haven of culinary delights and natural beauty. It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience that lingers in your memory. Whether you're seeking a romantic dinner or a tranquil retreat with friends, Howell's is the perfect choice. And as for the steak frites, it's an absolute must-try that might just redefine your expectations of this classic dish. I can confidently say that Howell's Kitchen and Bar is a hidden treasure worth discovering.

As we approached the restaurant, we noticed the parking lot was very small. Thankfully, they offer overflow parking nearby—located by the McDonald’s and the post office. We had to do a quick U-turn when leaving the main lot, then made a left toward the overflow area. It’s just a short walk from there to the restaurant. From the lot, the door we saw looked more like a side entrance, but we gave it a try and were able to walk right in. Inside, we were a little confused about where to check in, but we eventually found the host stand located near the center of the space, close to the bar. I let the hostess know I had a reservation for 11:30. Although we arrived about 30 minutes late, she was incredibly accommodating, acknowledged the reservation, and led us through the dining room.  We were stopping in for a quick bite before heading to a beer festival and requested an outdoor table. They had plenty of patio seating with a well-thought-out layout. We were seated in a great spot—ample shade provided by a large umbrella, perfect for the warm day.  Our server, Brandon W., greeted us promptly and gave us time to look over the menu. He mentioned he’d be happy to answer any questions we had.  The drink menu featured several specialty cocktails, an unexpectedly solid beer selection, and some creative food options. Wifey ordered the Margherita pizza and a Howell’s Lager, brewed by SweetWater. We ended up sharing the lager since we knew there were more beers to come later 🙂.  I went with the Clucker Chicken Sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a water. The food came out quickly. My sandwich was delicious—crispy chicken, great flavor from the mayo-mustard blend, and nice texture from the slaw. The sweet potato fries were nice and crunchy. Wifey really enjoyed her pizza—the crust was crisp and well-executed.  Brandon W. was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and clearly knew the menu well. He made sure we were well taken care of from start to finish. We will definitely return to Howell's to try some other menu items.

***Food was “OK”. Nothing to write home about, Dennys French toast is just as good. Service, terrible. My Debit card was LOST by the server. Yep, LOST! After her being MIA for 20 min the server came back to inform me “she can’t find my card”. I was in town from 3 hours away for a dance competition for my daughter and we took a break to enjoy a brick between events. No explanation, just that it was missing and abs had looked everywhere. Immediately checked my bank and saw that the meal charge was indeed on there. So she was able to run the card, then I guess walk away and “misplace” the card. That’s really unacceptable service, we trust these servers to take our cards and appropriately keep up with them. Yes accidents happen but an accident involving customers Cards is just not an option. If a busy bar can hold on and keep up with tons & tons of cards, then there is no reason a restaurant that advertises themselves as an upscale establishment shouldn’t be able to train staff to appropriately keep up with customer cards. Out of town, only had phone and debit card on me, thought to use Apple Pay but it’s linked to the debit card that was lost! The venue we were at was 35 minutes away so after waiting for her to look we had to leave, a curt manager finally stopped by and apologized. Did not offer to comp meal or anything of the sort, which I guess without the card w couldn’t have anyway. Extremely disappointed how the situation was treated, and how we were treated as we sat there for over 30 min with no updates until I got up and asked, at this point we needed to leave so my daughter would not be late. About an hour later I received a call (I left my number) and was told it was found. At this point we were over 40 min away, I was at an event with my 8yo that I couldn’t not just leave. I told them to destroy it and we answered with “ok. Sorry”. Anyway- as I said food was ok, not great, but the entire card incident was deplorable and how it was handled by management left a lot to be desired!
