It is with great sadness that that I post this review about what once was one of my favorite restaurants. My husband and I have been loyal customers and fans for decades but last night we went to Nino’s on Cheshire Bridge and were treated to a sandy spaghetti vongole (at first my husband thought I broke a tooth - thankfully not, it was just a mouthful of sand), rubbery bland veal with a quarter inch of cold mozzarella blanketing it, and dry spaghetti. Our server was attentive, and we did not ask for anything to be refunded but I did ask for a replacement for the clam pasta because it was inedible. We did not mention the other concerns to our server and left more than a 30% tip and kind words about the good service. On the way out, we wanted to share some very carefully worded constructive feedback with the new owner about our experience saying to her that we felt the kitchen was having an off night. Well, we will never know if that is true because we will never return to Ninos. Why? Because we were accosted at the host stand by the “chef” who stormed out to proclaim to the dining room that he was an owner too and that we were wrong and that his clams were fine yesterday and that he could cut the veal with a butter knife. Not sure what veal he was talking about because we didn’t mention our issues with that dish until he became argumentative. Perhaps he confused us with another complaining customer. For the record, we attempted to quietly assure both owners that we were merely trying to offer friendly feedback as we loved the restaurant and wanted it to continue to thrive. But this owner “chef” escalated his volume and his aggressive posturing and even followed us out into the parking lot yelling at us. Who does that? He was very hostile, rude, and devoid of the class that we have come to expect at Nino's. And he seemed completely unconcerned that he was going to lose our business forever. Apparently, loyalty at Nino’s only works in one direction. They’ll take your money and then you can take their abuse. I’ve never been treated like this and it’s crazy that we paid $300 dollars for this meal. It has become a trashy operation. If I could give negative stars, I would do so....
Read moreAttempted to have my 10 year anniversary dinner with my wife here and booked a reservation for 7:30. We were sat immediately, and greeted at about 15 minutes. Immediately put in our order for bread service and caprese to start and two entrees to share with a side of pasta bolognese. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to receive our bread which was about six pieces so hard they could have been cut into croutons and a caprese that lacked basil. Then, after another 40 minutes our entrees came out, no pasta bolognese. My wife’s gnocchi was luke-warm and chewy, and my grouper, while hot, was served over lukewarm, undercooked risotto. We then asked for a manager. Micah seemed flustered visiting another table with a similar experience and took 20 minutes to get to our table and basically told me I was lying about my risotto being cold, fumbled through an apology blaming us for our perception of the events and food, and offered a 15% discount and hurried away. Another ten minutes goes by and we see our waiter again and we tell him we don’t care to take our food (of which we ate about 1/4) and we needed the check and gave him my credit card. After about 15 more minutes I took my ticket to valet, and saw Micah just sitting down at the bar. When I came back to the table our server sheepishly brought us two lemoncello shots and some Sysco looking dessert. We tipped him and declined the drinks and dessert. Between the two of us we have about 35 years in food service including about 18 years in management; it takes a lot for us to complain let alone leave a review, but we were so disappointed in the half-ass service and less than half-ass “guest recovery” skills of Micah that we felt the need to give a response in lieu of ruining our neighbor’s experience for dinner. We won’t return and you should put your special night in the hands of a more capable...
Read moreAbsolute disappointment. We are visiting from out of town and chose this establishment based on reviews. I called ahead several times with no answer trying to find out if it was an appropriate place to bring my family to eat and celebrate a birthday. We ordered simple food, due to my extreme food allergies. I was very specific with our server that I wanted fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and my daughter ordered the exact same thing. The server brings our food, chicken Alfredo with mushrooms. I’m allergic to mushrooms, thus the simple boring order. The server is standing at our table putting cheese on other plates WATCHING me trying to pick the mushrooms out with disgust. He walked away without saying a word. BOTH Alfredo orders had mushrooms randomly added when we were extremely specific with our order. After unsuccessfully trying to pick the mushrooms out and realizing I was in danger if I ate it, I called another server (we saw ours twice throughout our meal) and told him I could not eat it. He took it away and I was eventually brought another plate with only noodles and sauce. At this point, my family has finished eating and went to the car to wait. I asked for the check and paid it without looking at it due to my extreme frustration with the terrible server, the bad service and bad food. Imagine my surprise to find out they charged me for the chicken Alfredo I never got!!!!!!!!!!! I was more upset at that then being charged full price for a kids portion. Bottom line-worst service I’ve ever received! What kind of server looks at a customer picking food out and WALKS AWAY instead of inquiring if there was a problem. He 100% saw it-I saw him ROLL HIS EYES. I cannot help a food allergy and I will never eat at this establishment again...
