This was such a cute and cozy find! We went to Pala around 13:30 on a Saturday. We must have missed the lunch rush-- service was good and there was available seating (around 8 seats inside and a standing bar outside the restaurant).
For lunch, we got the pugliese with mortadella sandwich (weekend special), carciofi romana (artichokes) sandwich, fior di zucca (stuffed zucchini flowers), and Sicilian lemonade. Albeit pricey, the sandwiches were HUGE . They can definitely be shared. Heads up-- if saved for later, the olive oil can turn the bread soggy. The focaccia used for the carciofi romana sandwhich was toasty and soft. The artichoke spread was subtle. The mortadella was on a different bread that had a harder crust (similar to a light sourdough). The pesto was so flavorful and the savory sandwich was really balanced with the fresh mozzarella. The fior di zucca had a thick batter. We prefer a lighter batter for this delicate flower and felt like the blossom was a bit overshadowed. They were stuffed with fresh mozzarella and the cheese pull was quite impressive. We enjoyed the Sicilian lemonade and thought the mint made it really refreshing.
For dessert, we got the albicoca (apricot) croissant, limone de sorrento, cookies&cream gelato, and mascarpone with chocolate and granella of amaretto. Their dessert was tasty and not overly sweet. The intended flavors were pretty prominent. The mascarpone desserts came in reusable glass containers. Great to gift to someone or bring to dinner parties.
Overall, this place can get pricey really quickly but if you think about it, the quality of the ingredients is good and there aren't many places like this in the...
Read moreI decided to try this bakery from a video review I saw on IG. When I saw Pala had the legit Italian paninis with mortadella I was so excited. I had one in Florence when I went and loved it, haven’t been able to find anything similar here so when I saw these sandwiches I drove from Alpharetta to try it.
The sandwich I got was delicious with mortadella, ricotta, and a rich, tasty pesto. It did taste authentic and reminded me of the ones I had in Italy! You could tell the ingredients are fresh as well. They take your order at the register, give you a number and then you pick it up at the counter when they call your number. There was a line when I came in but it moved quickly. Sandwich took about 5-7 minutes to come out, but was worth it. I would visit again and probably try a different one just to get a taste of the other sandwiches because they all sounded so good.
The only thing I wish was different was that there was more seating/space available. I think with the popularity this place is getting it’s been getting very crowded, so it’s hard to find seating. Other than that everything was good. You guys should open a location...
Read moreWe only came for dessert. We arrived in the middle of lunch rush hour on a Sunday. This was our first time here and I had not anticipated seating was so limited. We were able to stake out two seats as several people were taking their orders to go.
Service was focused on taking food orders. There was no clear sign that Gelato customers were tp form a separate line and someone would assist with that line. So I stood in the food line before finding out I was in the wrong line.
I was happy with my order. I got one scoop of Coconut Gelato and topped it with one scoop of Lemon Sobet. My friend ordered three scoops - Mango and Lemon Sorbets and Strawberry Gelato. She didn't like the Mango Sorbet and wished she ordered the Strawberry as a Sorbet.
Tables were not being bussed while we were there. Basically service was limited to taking and filling orders.
The food smelled delicious and we would consider returning for food except seating can't be anticipated.
They also had Tiramisu, something that looked more like a Flan than a Panna Cotta and a few...
