My first time experiencing this place though it’s been on my list of restaurants to try for a while. Glad I finally got around to it. A good experience.

Maybe it was serendipitous timing since it was my birthday but my original intent was to go to Houston’s but once I learned of the extreme wait times, I called Blue Ridge which was just around the corner and they booked my reservation right away. Upon arrival, the valet guy was nice as was the hostess. So far, so good.

Where things kind-of derailed a bit was with the waitress (don’t know her name but she was a young black lady with braids who said she’d been there for a year). There was something off-putting about her. We asked her questions about the menu and she didn’t answer directly, she kept repeating an obvious (ie “that is the appetizer” when we asked her about the difference in proportion of the appetizer versus the entree). I couldn’t figure out if she was slow or trying to be sarcastic. And during the meal, she seemed to forget everything we asked her to bring to the point someone in my party stated “she’s doing that on purpose.” Everyone else in the party had the same impression of her that I did—snooty and nice-nasty (you know the type who wears a disingenuous smile while they’re speaking). It was clear we were first-timers but she didn’t give a warm-fuzzy welcome. Tip for servers: Whatever you think of your customers, YOU are there to serve them, not the other way around. Treating everyone with respect and deference regardless of your ignorant pre-judgements, goes a lot further than being pretentious and possibly losing potential repeat customers.

Anyway, that aside, the food was good, maybe not spectacular but definitely good enough to warrant a repeat visit. The salmon—both the hot smoked appetizer and the entree (which had a little heat which was a nice surprise) and the beef ribs were tasty and well-received. Also the unique way they provide a sweetener liquid with the drinks was a nice surprise too. I will add that I was actually surprised at how reasonable the prices were. Based on the aesthetic, I was expecting much higher pricing. But it’s actually les expensive then Houston’s if you can believe it.

Moving on, the ambience was another plus. You definitely feel the upscale culture from the valet service (lots of high-end vehicles) to the indoor decor which gives an upscale cabin aesthetic with lots of stone accents.

Overall, a great way to spend my birthday. Very glad I got to finally eat here even if I left with a twinge of feeling judged when I left. Restaurant recommended though for anyone looking to spend an evening in a nice, ritzy...

Very impressed from start to finish by all the details the employees take care to notice. Warmly greeted by the host, who mentioned a birthday we were celebrating. Seated to a table with happy birthday decorations and a Hershey kiss at each plate. Fresh bread with soft butter served - and they have GF roll which was a pleasant surprise! Waiter was very kind and efficient.

Foods we ordered: chicken breast. One person got it the way menu said. I subbed baked potato for whipped potatoes as I can’t have dairy. I’m also gf and the assumed the sauce for the chicken had gluten, so mine came plain. I wish they had just confirmed with the Chef versus leaving it off. They did bring me some out separately trout with arugula and lemon. The friend who ordered this said it was delicious. Perfect portion size! beef short rib - my husband got this and said it was ok, he’s had better. Apres diem has a better short rib in our opinion for cheaper price hamburger - both people who ordered this said it was very good. Though the fries were subpar - very soft and tasted like reheated frozen food. I would not recommend the fries - change it out for something different

Dessert. We were very pleased by the complimentary birthday desserts / they brought out a cream brûlée and ice cream cake on the house (we were celebrating 4 birthdays, all within 2 weeks of each other). Our server sweetly brought me out a DF sorbet as I couldn’t have either complimentary dessert.

They ended with giving each of us a refrigerated chocolate mint, which was delectable …. So yummy!!

Loved the ambience! Very mountain lodge vibe. The minute you walk in, the mood is set, from the sights and smells. I loved how the staff cared for each detail of our meal. The food and service was very good. I...

We were celebrating our friend’s 63rd birthday at BRG. It is an outstanding venue to celebrate a birthday or any special occasion because they not only make up a personalized menu with your name on it but also add some Hershey kisses to the table along with tiny glitter pieces and colorful ribbons.

Our server, Taina, was one of the best we have had during several visits. She was not phased by the four of us perusing the menu, trying to make up our minds on what to order for over a half hour. She carefully managed her other tables while checking back with us periodically. After we finally ordered, our courses came to us with no waiting as she gauged our meal timing perfectly. I have to commend her observation skills as we were never left waiting for a course and she removed our empty dishes promptly, which made for a very enjoyable dinner. The menu items we ordered consisted of Sea Bass Cerviche, Crab Cake, Mushroom Arancini, Blue Ridge Grill Salad, Grilled Georgia Trout, and Pan Seared Bronzino . . .all of which were delicious. And, as always, they start you off with a warm round loaf of sourdough bread, which is super crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside.

We were so impressed with Tainia’s first class service we asked to see the manager, Jesse Otero, who promptly came to our booth. After sharing with him how impressed we were with Taina and how she added to the enjoyment of our dinner experience, we also raved about the champagne salad dressing that came with their signature Blue Ridge Salad. He asked if we wanted to have the recipe and returned with it along with some samples of the dressing to take home with us. We can’t reiterate enough what a wonderful and memorable birthday celebration we had at the iconic Blue...
