This post was made solely for the sake of the desserts. Whoever you have back there in pastry are putting their hearts and souls into these sweets.
I enjoyed a pistachio cupcake, and my lover a tiramisu. I, upon biting into the middle of the cupcake, took a second to process whether or not this texture was real. The sponge was incredibly soft and fluffy, aerated and moist. The pistachio flavor was present, but subtle. Accompanied by what may have been the finest cream cheese icing I’ve consumed in my life. Candied pistachio pieces scattered on top made for the finest delicacy I’ve had in a while. Simple — executed perfectly.
As for the tiramisu, I can’t say that I’ve historically been a fan of them (too bitter), so my notes on them are notably less. My companion, upon first bite, immediately remarked that it was “very good” with the bite still in his mouth. I found it to be very soft and creamy, with a present but not too powerful taste of espresso. The ladyfingers were soft and crumbly; the whipped topping a cloud resting on my tongue. My only note is that the overall texture was very monotone. I think a crunchier ladyfinger would lend some liveliness to the dish.
But yes, phenomenal desserts that deserve a special review and...
Read moreI wanted to give this restaurant a higher rating. The food was well prepared and tasty (although the portions seemed a bit skimpy). The service and staff were first rate. I even felt the pricing was reasonable -- until I received my bill. I had requested a side order of sauted spinach with my meal, which was delicious. I was charged $7 for a small plate of about 1 cup of spinach! I'm spending nearly $50 on dinner for two & the policy is to price gouge a side order of spinach?? I was expecting maybe a $3-$4 fee, if that (which has been my experience at other similar restaurants). I felt disrespected and ripped off. This kind of policy does NOT make for loyal or repeat customers in my book. This was my 1st time at Pasta Vino, & my last. When I like a restaurant, I return many times & recommend it a lot. Because of this ill- advised maneuver, I'll take my business elsewhere, to a place that treats me fairly, as a desired and valued customer rather than a cash machine. This is the classic example of being penny-wise and...
Read moreWe LOVE Pasta Vino or PV as we call it. We found this amazing neighborhood restaurant 8 years ago when we moved to Atlanta. And we have been going there regularly ever since -- we did romantic dates here pre-child, we lived at PV while pregnant (lots of PV cravings), we brought our baby daughter and out-of-town family here for her first celebration when she was 4 days old, we have introduced friends and groups to PV and continue to go as a family now as often as we can. It is our family "go to" restaurant. We love the food -- garlic knots, chicken parm, eggplant parm, the basil-tomato-mozarella salad, gnocchi (our five-year old loves it), pistacho cupcakes, tiramisu and of course Jay's amazing cocktails. We love the people working there even more --Jay, Muhammed, Zee, Antonio, Tomas, the whole staff are family to us now. You walk away from a meal and time at PV with a yummy taste in your mouth, a satisfied belly and a smile on your face. We highly, highly recommend Pasta Vino...
