So bad! OMG !! We are visitors from Montreal Canada here in North Myrtle Beach for a month (Feb. '24). We saw this resto had some interesting / good reviews and decided to try it. Maybe the owners/management have changed ? ..... but .... this chinese cuisine was AWFUL !! We have enjoyed asian cuisine hundreds of times in many cities and many countries. There was "no taste" whatsoever to anything !!
Here are the details...........We phoned in our order for pick-up. Shrimp Toast, Chicken w/ Cashews, Beef and Broccoli and Fried Rice. The shrimp toast came black, not burnt but completely black, a first. The fried rice came completely yellow and clumpy. The chicken w/cashews had some diced soggy vegetables in it that we think could/should have been 'al dente' in the fried rice. Hard to find the chicken or the cashews as the sauce on the chicken w/cashews was more like mud than the light shiny glaze sauce typically associated wth this dish. The beef and broccoli was ....... nothing good or tasty. My wife and I took several bites, looked at each other in amazement .... and immediately threw EVERYTHING in the garbage!!. We love North Myrtle Beach but will never return to China Dragon nor ever recommend this...
Read moreTerrible. We watched one of the servers/cooks wearing plastic prep gloves play with a young child's feet while it was laying on the table. When she called back to the kitchen, she went right back in and kept working. Also just terrible service. Waited 20 minutes for an order they told us would take 10-15 minutes dn when we went to check on it, the lady was rude, and claimed that we didn't even place half of our order. We called from outside to place our order (because of their covid restrictions not allowing people in the restaurant) and I watched the lady answer the phone when my wife called to place the order. Thankfully our phones record all conversations, and when we played it back to them, they just got upset. Never admitted being wrong. When this happened, they remade the order, and told us it would be another 15 minutes. And it most certainly was. When we went to pay, they had upped the prices on all our food items and what should've been a $30 order after taxes, was now suddenly a $39 order before taxes.
With all that being stated... The food was good. Which we assumed it would be... Because you can't stay open with such bad service, unless the food is really good.
So take this for what...
Read moreAvoid this place at all costs! I have never had such terrible Chinese food in my life.
Singapore Me Fun: Absolutely awful. It tasted plasticky and was missing key flavors. Who cooked this stuff?
Beef Fried Rice: Completely wrong. It was soggy and tasted like it was cooked in the wrong part of the world.
Shrimp Chow Mein: The worst dish of all. The shrimp tasted terrible, and it seemed like it was cooked by someone who had never cooked before. The vegetables were the only thing that wasn't ruined.
The only decent item was the boneless ribs, which are hard to mess up. I spent $110 and felt like I got $30 worth of food. Half of it went straight into the garbage.
Up north, on the West Coast, or even further south in Miami, the Chinese food is ten times better—even in predominantly Spanish communities! I saw a few folks cooking who probably shouldn't be making these types of dishes.
HORRIBLE...
