Mayport C&C Fisheries Seafood Market — Restaurant in Atlantic Beach

I stopped here a few weeks ago because they had Jonah crab on their menu. They only carried a 5 pound bag but i figured it would be worth it since the claws are frozen. I had my first serving last night and was very disappointed. The meat was extremely tough and just not very good. I tried a few claws and the meat was consistently tough. I think the claws were either overcooked or just old, i can't find a purchase date on the bag so i'm guessing they have been in the freezer for a very long time. I have purchased Jonah claws before from other vendors, never really had an issue. The staff was friendly, which is why i gave two stars instead of one.

Watch out for theses guys. Called them on the phone and drove a long way to get cherrystone clams which they said they had and was a good price. But when I got home and started steaming the clams, l noticed they were small. Like the size of middle neck clams. So I started measuring them. About 50 % of the bag was borderline middle neck. I could have bought the middle neck and had the same results. AND so I counted the clams that was supposed to be in a 100 count bag. There were only 89. So they not only were small, but they shorted me on the count. When I called them to complain, they said to come back and they would make it right. Because they got caught? I shouldn't have to open the bag and inspect and count it...

If you are anywhere near Atlantic Beach, and you are craving the freshest seafood you can get, then you need to stop in and see the super-friendly folks at Mayport C & C Fisheries. They have an awesome selection of fresh, prepared and frozen goodies from the sea. You can even get fresh domestic REAL Blue Crab meat. You can get fresh local Mayport shrimp and they will peel and devein it to order for you. This clean and simple little market is a gem. We live very close and try to get there at least once a week to fulfill our seafood needs. We can not recommend it enough. Just Go! You won't be sorry.
