Guthrie’s Downtown Auburn — Restaurant in Auburn

So I decided to give this place a try. I started off by asking g simple questions,because the young lady seemed more interested in being with the boys in the back,then helping a customer understand a few things. I asked by what type of tea do they use and she seemed very confused. Then asked the gentleman in the back about what of tea they used. He replied," that's a good question." Then he told me golden peak tea. He also mentioned to me if I wanted a certain tea. I should go to KFC. He mentioned he could make my chicken extra crispy. Well lets just say breading is missing from three out of tye four and half chicken fingers. Yes four and a half when i paid for five. This is not what my money should of paid for. Which by the way. My meal was all most 15 bucks. The little kids in the back seem to find something funny about me. Considering I was watching them as none of the guys,expect for the one that took my order. Washed their hands before putting on their gloves. The young man that gave me my food was polite when I mentioned to him about removing his gloves when touching his face. I was only trying to help. It appears that after a long weekend. No one really cares about how food is handled in this town. It's truly sad. I had hopes for this place,but it appears that Joe doesn't seem to truly understand what's going on in his restaurant. Also please explain to young lady,that sitting on the counter in the kitchen is not the how things should he done and eating from the fry basket in front of the customers faces is unacceptable. Good luck and this will be my last time eating here. Thanks for the waste of hard earned money. Maybe I should of gone to KFC. At least I know what I'm getting...

I overall enjoyed my visit but there is room for improvement that Guthrie's can make.

The pros: The atmosphere and service were superb. It is always a pleasant suprise to find a clean restaurant and friendly staff that are available and eager to answer any questions or concerns. The cole slaw was fantastic (which is honestly hard to find) the crinkle cut french fries were crispy no at all soggy, and the toast is perhaps the most flavorful and buttery out of any fried chicken tender establishment.

The cons: The chicken suffers from the same problem as Cane's; it is not at all seasoned and the seasoning is all in the sauce. Honestly, this was incredibly disappointing and it can be fixed by tossing the chicken into some spices after frying. The condiment list is also vastly lacking as there are only 3 choixes to choose from. Add some malt vinegar to the list and some different sauces for the patrons to try to create a nice variety.

Overall, I think it is worth a try but there are some improvements that the franchise can make to make the dining...

I was a paying customer and I specifically asked Chase if I could park there for a little bit without getting towed and he said yes no problem. He also told another lady she could park to go get her hair done as well. Upon coming back in a little over an hour his manager had my car towed because he obviously didn’t tell his manager he told me it was ok to park. I confronted him in front of the manager on duty and he lied to my face and to his manager saying he told me “he didn’t recommend it.” I am a grown adult and would not park there if I had not received permission from an employee who I thought knew what he was talking about.
