Update to my review from a while back...
As I said before, this is my and my wife's favorite pizza...or it used to be. It's almost as if MM doesn't want us to come back, as the last 3 times we've been, our order has been incorrect.
We are vegan (which means no dairy, of course), and I've been very pleased to find that MM offers pizzas with vegan cheese as an option. My wife, however, does not care for the vegan cheese. As a result, we order two large pizzas...one for her without any cheese and one for me with the vegan cheese. Then we have pizza to enjoy for a couple more days after we leave.
The first time we came and found the Follow Your Heart cheese as an option, we placed our order...again, mine with the vegan cheese and hers without. My pizza came and the cheese did not seem to be vegan...parmesan was sprinkled all over the outer crust and I asked if the cheese was vegan. The server forgot to indicate that I wanted the vegan option. Against my better judgement, I ate the pizza.
The second time was my wife's birthday. Out of all of the places we could go, she chose MM, and I was more than happy to oblige. Again...same order...two pizzas, one with vegan cheese and one without. Her pizza came covered in the vegan cheese. It was a busy night and it had already taken over 30 minutes to get our pizzas, so even though the manager offered to remake it, she kept it, but she wasn't happy about it. I had to eat all of my left overs and hers too...I was eating pizza for a week.
Earlier this week, she wanted to come back again, hoping that her pizza would be made properly. They did indeed get it right...for the most part. No cheese and many veggies of her choosing. When we got home the next night and was eating left overs, she kept insisting that she was tasting something "fishy". She disassembled the pizza, removing veggies, etc one at a time and found a layer of anchovies on the pizza. I looked online at the menu which included a photo of anchovies, and yep...it looked just like it and of course, you can't mistake the taste of fish. Anchovies on pizza is probably one of the most acquired tastes, and finding it on her pizza ruined the rest of her dinner...all the rest was thrown out.
Two large pizzas and two or three beers plus server tip equals over $100 for a party of two. That's quite a lot. And although I'm sure the restaurant will never miss the two of us, I'm not sure we'll be returning.
So a word of warning to all vegans and plant based eaters: be very careful at MM. Cheese or no cheese and the right kind of cheese seems to be difficult to comprehend for MM. Of course, this last visit, the cheeses were correct, but adding anchovies? How can that even happen????
My favorite pizza, hands down. Good appetizers too. Great selection of beer on tap. Be prepared to wait if you go during peak hours during the fall and spring semesters though...this place is...
Read moreAs a fellow employee of another Mellow Mushroom...I can't say I was impressed. The inside was small, cramped, but still cool regardless. Nothing against the building or location. My biggest irk is how my service was from my server and even the manager when I ultimately ended up asking for him. Presuming the mellow standard is met, we as servers are supposed to introduce ourselves when going up to tables, my server didn't do that. No name, no hey, just what can I get you to drink. Something I personally at my store would neverrrr be allowed to get away with. Their syrup for the sprite was out, and in all fairness our server was very quick when replacing it and bringing a new drink. My family and I ordered, my mom had gotten the Cobb on a spinach base. Over half the spinach was slimy, wilted, and honestly should have seen the trash before seeing a table...we discovered this only after our server just gave thumbs up to make sure we were okay, not bothering to come to the table or anything like that.. just right by the server counter. We had actually needed her for something but she just walked away. This is when I personally asked for a manager and explained why I wanted him, for the salad that wasn't even edible and to comment on the service that my own managers wouldn't even approve of from me... The manager came over, heard me out for the salad, and while I was going into the service, he literally walked away from me. Proving my point on the service. Because how, as a manager of all people, are you going to walk away from a customer knowing they are NOT done talking to you. I like that I can say I've been to this location...but that's all I gained, I should have saved the 30 min drive and just gone to my store...saved the disappointment..gone somewhere where we pride ourselves on our service and making sure customers leave happy and not pissed off.... In conclusion, if you want wilty, slimy, sad salads...and shitty service where even a manager thinks it's okay to walk away from a table, the auburn location...
Read moreBeen customer for yrs always had great food and great service until tonight. The food as usual out of 10 the service one out of 10. Ordered a pick up pizza for 6 PM. Got there at 5:58 and almost always that pizza is ready within two or three or maybe five minutes after the scheduled time, it was actually tonight. The pizza was ready at 6:01 for 6 o’clock pick up but again I got there at 5:58 and told him who I was and the name the pizza was under. She looked at me and told me there are no pizzas available as you can see, which was correct because there were no pizzas on the table or the oven at 6:01 one of the cooks up the pizza call out my name said online order and put the pizza on top of the oven. I waited to see if the server would turn around to go get it. She didn’t so waited a minute another two pizzas were delivered to be ready , a few minutes another couple pizzas were made ready. A couple customers came in and picked up their pizzas. I sat there at the counter waiting for her to look at me. She didn’t fast-forward 13 minutes later I had to ask her if one of those pizzas was mine she said let me check , and it was the same one that was 601 I don’t remember her name but she had purple hair and blue eyeliner had no interest in me being there or anything to do with me and probably I’d still be sitting there 30 minutes later, if I hadn’t asked her to sit check on my pizza someone needs to teach a little bit more about customer service in the service industry. Otherwise the...
