Previous reviews have been bland or unfair. First off, Papa Gino's is managed by minorities, so there is no racial issue. In fact, it was quite unfair to play the race card in the previous review... Weak sauce. Every establishment has a weak bad day / night. Now, what you came for.
What Papa Gino's is NOT: Domino's, Little Caesar's, or even Pizza Hut. Papa Gino's is a step above these places, not below. Consider Papa Gino's between them and places like Uno's or Bertuccis.
The food here is full of flavor, especially the Pizza. The Thin Crust Pizza sauce has a mild kick, it's tangy, and it's complimented by the Boston-Owned Franchise's trademark 3 cheese blend. You can get 4 sizes. Small, large, extra large, and Rustic. The Rustic size has a unique plenko dusted crust with a buttery finish. The Cheese on the Rustic is the 3 Cheese blend plus an asiago cheese. It's very delicious, but bring extra cash. A small pizza starts at $7.99, while larges start at $11.99. Specialty Pizzas clock in between $13.99 to $15.99 but have some innovative ideas such as Italian Sausage Ricotta, Buffalo Chicken (ask for it the OLD way, TRUST me), and the Lasagna (which has no noodles, and is really just the Italian Sausage Ricotta with Hamburg instead of sausage). I am all set with the Spaghetti and Meatballs. R&D should go back to the drawing board on this one. Noodles have a tendency to get slimy when sitting too long, and unless they've re-atomized the food, it will be the same here.
Other menu items include a decent variety of Salads - including Buffalo Chicken, Caesar Salad, Greek, and others. Subs ranging from Tuna to Steak Onions Peppers and Mushrooms with Cheese.
This place is well worth a visit, but bring cash. It's no Dominos or...
Read morePapa Ginos would be my last meal if I had to make that decision! I eat here at least every other week. I have been going to the Auburn Ma. Papa Ginos since I was a teenager (and I am 45) and I just never get tired of their food. I can honestly say I have never had anything from the menu that I didn't like. In all fairness I will say that you can order the same exact pizza 3 times in a month at 3 different times and it won't be the exact same pizza as the previous one. Depending on who is making your pizza is what you're going to get... I have had pizzas that were nothing less than a work of culinary pizza art in my opinion. And then there is times I have gotten pizzas that had a burt smell to the bottom of the crust, or the crust is much thicker and bread-like which I dont enjoy. I'd go to dominos if I wanted that type of pizza. The sandwiches are awesome, Buffalo mac and cheese is my wifes go to meal. The cheese bread sticks are also a hit or miss. There are times that they are so buttery and cheesy and perfect. And then there is times that they have half the cheese and are kind of dry and crunchy. But over all this is by far my ride or die place to eat! I even looked into what I would need to do to be a franchisee because I love PG so much but its ridiculously expensive so that went out...
Read moreWas there tonight at 6 p.m. to pick up an order that was called in. I was told the wait would be 20-25 minutes. No problem. Paid for my order and waited with the rest of the people. Behind the counter is total chaos. Too many people in that area? Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. About 20 minutes later, a man, who had his toddler with him, was finally told his order was ready. He mentioned that part of his order had been sitting in the warmer for at least 20 minutes, and he was very angry that it took an hour for them to cook his pizza. Not one worker offered any sympathy. He suggested that the least they could do was offer him a discount. Not one worker went to get a manager, and not one manager was paying enough attention to this man to diffuse the situation. Bad customer service. The man had every right to be angry, yet no one thought they should try to make him happy. Customer service lacked in this case. Poor guy left and probably...
