I was hesitant about leaving a review for this place. The service is the only reason the review isn't lower.
We decided to try this place out after finding out that it had recently opened and business seemed to be booming. Our first choice was Metro Diner, and I honestly would've been more satisfied with our experience there. I'll start by giving a brief description of what I feel were the most notable things. I would also like to note that I worked in a semi-upscale restaurant for at least 4 years and was a manager by the time I left. So, there may be things that I mention or talk about that other people may not relate to or understand.
Atmosphere: This is huge when going to a new restaurant. This sets the tone for how comfortable and welcome you feel in the space. The restaurant looked nice at first glance. We didn't get to see much of the inside since we sat outside, which we didn't have a problem with. My only issue was the white(ish) tables that were being used for outside seating. The glare of the sun reflecting off the tables made it very difficult to see. The chairs were nice, but they were definitely not comfortable enough to sit in for longer than 30-45 minutes.
Service: When we walked in, the hosts didn't immediately greet us despite making direct eye contact. It wasn't until after we greeted them that they responded to our presence. After this, though, they were very nice, and we quickly got seated. Our server was also very nice from beginning to end, making sure to correct the mistakes we encountered. She was more than happy to answer any questions and was knowledgeable about what the restaurant did/didn’t have available.
Drinks: The drinks that we got tasted great, actually, even bordering on being a little strong, but that's not a complaint, just an observation.
Food: The food, aside from the outside glare, was probably the worst and most disappointing aspect of our experience. For the prices, you would think that you'd get First Watch quality or even better, but everything was just okay. The cookie dough pancakes were embarrassingly underdressed, considering they were meant to be a "specialty" flavor. They were also insanely dry. The bourbon pancakes were actually pretty nice.
The southwestern scramble (I think that's what it was called) was very disappointing. The eggs were very overcooked bordering on burnt. The tortillas weren't even lightly toasted or browned. My crab cake Benedict had to be sent back the first time because it was ice cold. The second time around, it was better but not great. We were informed that the crab cakes are not made to order but are instead cooked beforehand and kept under a heating element until sold, and that could explain why they were cold. Which, for the price, just seems unacceptable. Especially since the crab cakes themselves were the most flavorful part of the entire dish.
Needless to say, we spent $100 for two, which included the tip. Nothing justified that price. Not the flavor/ quality of the food or the atmosphere/environment. We probably would not eat here again and instead stick to our normal brunch places. If you're looking for a place to get drinks and don't care about the quality of the food, this place is for you. However, if you want good food for the price you're going to pay, look elsewhere.
I know this place just opened, and ideas don't always work. Things don't always go as planned. I just hope for the sake of everyone involved in the business, it gets...
Read moreThis location of Another Broken Egg should be ashamed and checked thoroughly by the health department! Our total bill was $89.00+ on November 23rd and we both ended up vomiting shortly thereafter. Well wouldn't you if your Mardi Gras omelet was so fishy and flavorless that it teetered on tasting as if it was rotten? And among your ice cubes in your $47.00+ pitcher of Mango Margherita there was also a baby roach swimmimg around? Of course our little eyes didn't spy that until we were finishing off the pitcher of spirits. The eggs were overcooked. I asked for soft scrambled. The biscuit beignets were mediocre at best. And the maple apple chicken sausage was not up to the standards or taste experienced at Atlanta locations. The Belgium waffle was cold when it came out as was all of the food. This after we'd waited more than 45 minutes for our order and had complained numerous times to our waiter Dillon. Dillon was also made aware that there was a roach in our Margherita as we showed it to him. He was apologetic but did not inform management nor advocate on behalf of the customer in any way. He made multiple excuses why the table next to us, party of 3 that arrived well after we did, received their food 15-20 minutes prior to us and it was all piping hot. He made mention that since my brunch companion was already talking to the manager Ralphie that he would surely take care of it. Let me tell you he did not. He was rude, unprofessional, condescending and offered no resolution to the issues we'd faced. He was argumentative and didn't so much as offer an apology for the abhorrent food & service we received. He literally turned and walked away as my brunch companion was trying to speak with him. I waited several months to try this location as the reviews during the grand opening prior to the Master's were not good. I thought I'd give them a chance to get their act together. Trust me, it was all a waste time. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had! The people working here clearly don't care about professionalism or customer service. We should've left as we stood ignored by no less than 4 employees at the hostess station upon entry. It took Mercedes to come along to even acknowledge that we were standing there. No one even made eye contact. I asked my companion if she could see me because surely I was invisible. At the end of the day, people just want get their money's worth and be treated with decency. I don't know who owns this place but I'm going to need more than just a footnote about how sorry you are about my experience and how you'll be using it to make improvements. That seems to be the preferred automated reply to previous negative reviews I've seen listed here. Otherwise I'll have to assume that you're not serious about improving the service and products your business provides in this community. Until then, I recommend steering clear of this place. And one more thing, how can a newer business be so filthy? For my money, Augusta has other options available like Metro Diner & First Watch. I for one won't be spending any more of my money at "Any...
Read moreI was expecting a lot with my first visit to Another Broken Egg, as the website makes everything look so delicious and most reviews were pretty good. But I was highly disappointed. I got the pancakes, baked bacon, and potatoes. The pancakes were just okay, I could make them much better at home, and I've had much better at other restaurants. The baked bacon - which is supposed to be nice and crispy since it's cooked in the oven - was not crispy at all, very chewy, very salty, greasy, and overly smoky tasting. The potatoes were bland and pretty much flavorless. I will say that the hostess, Mercedes, was extremely sweet and kind. She introduced herself as soon as I walked in and seated me kindly. She walked by me after I had been seated and got my food and asked me how everything was; I asked her if she wanted my honest opinion and she said yes and so I proceeded to tell her everything I am saying here. She asked if there was anything that I would like replaced and I said no as I really needed to eat and get to an appointment, I have diabetes so I couldn't wait until after my appointment to eat so I just ate most of what was on my plate just out of the convenience of already being there. No reason to get me more food when I didn't really like what I already had. I told her honestly that I will probably never return. My waiter was okay but I don't really know what to say since he didn't even introduce himself and he barely said two words to me the whole time I was there. Mercedes was the only one to take the time to really speak to me. The atmosphere is nice but as another poster said the chairs are extremely uncomfortable; the bars are on the front of the seat where your back hits and the top part is on the opposite side, it's like they were made backwards. For food that cost around $16 not including tip just for breakfast food, I would rather go down the road to either Cracker Barrel or Ruth's - plus Ruth's is delicious and local. Some people might say well they're still new, but they've been open for 4 months and it is a chain location, so I would expect better. Don't waste...
