I have been waiting for a Jersey Mike's to open in the area since I moved back to Augusta in 2015. Then when the sign went up I waited another 6 months for it to finally open. I was not disappointed. Hands down the best sandwiches in the area (And I say that as someone originally from the area who regularly defends the local food establishments.)
I visited on the second day they were open and while opening days can usually be a lot of trial and error this wasn't the case. The staff was fast and pleasant, My order was correct and I actually spent less than I would have had I opted for a less healthy option.
I will be back often.
EDIT: November 2023
This place is not the same as it was when it opened. Clearly they brought in ringers from other stores because everything used to be great.
I usually visit about once a week. The last three times I have visited it’s been complete disarray. I understand it’s hard to get new employees and they need to train on the job but it’s not getting better it’s getting worse.
Twice I have been on weekend late afternoons and both times there were multiple staff standing around in the back while one staff member tried to keep up with customers in the store and to go orders. There is one girl who seems like she must be the shift leader trying to delegate but it seemed like the other employees were just blowing her off. As you can imagine this made it so my pickup order was half hour late the first time and twenty minutes late the second time. I literally would have gotten faster service had I walked in to order at the counter. That said the food was correct and still good I just don’t expect picking up a sandwich to take an hour (20 minute order window and the half hour plus wait in the store after my pickup window).
I thought maybe it was just the weekend so I decided to order pickup for lunch ordered for 10 thirty so should be pre lunch rush. It seemed a little better but I still had to wait after my pickup time that said there were already several people in the store and it seemed like staff was arriving when I was waiting.
The disappointment in this visit though was that I ordered a salad and the guy making it clearly didn’t know what he was doing and needs to be retrained. Instead of it being prepared like it’s supposed to with the meat and cheese being rolled up and cut before being placed on the top so it can be eaten I literally got whole slices of meat and cheese layer down with a bunch of veggies on top like he was planning to make a sandwich and just removed the bread. Then proceeded to while mayonnaise over the top of the whole thing with a knife….. I’m honestly not even sure how to go about eating this right now.
Please please please refrain you staff on how all the other...
Read moreIf I could give this a negative 5* I would... My FIRST experience with JM... I will start by saying on Sunday at lunch this location was staffed by a bunch of teenagers/low 20s and one older gentleman that was.... Ill just say nicely was not capable of handling a lunch shift demand... He literally took 3-5 mins to place the very few toppings available on a sub it was exceptionally painful with the double tomato... ... BUT... I could have delt with that... What I couldn't deal with is the (likely teenager) cashier who had previously wrapped a sub after cashing a customer out before me because this gentleman was not functionally capable.... I checked out and she says ty have a nice day! I'm standing there with my sub sitting on the counter...... I stare at her for 30-45secs at least or more felt like more as she leans against the register (the gentleman is staring at the bread rack.... Not functioning)... I finally get pissed off and grab my sandwich and wrap it myself!!!!😡 For the price the charge I shouldn't have to wrap my own damn sandwich while someone is standing their at the register (who had previously put on gloves and wrapped a sandwich )for the guy.. it wasn't till I grab my sandwich the light goes off with the teenager that gee my customer is standing in front of me having paid she shouldn't have to wrap her own sandwich... (Keep in mind this register asks for a tip as well!) I will absolutely boycott jersey Mikes unless this situation is addressed and encouraged everyone else I know as well. The sandwich in the end was ok nothing special Ill go to subway next time and get a bigger sub, quicker service and hey.. they are slicing meat to...
Read moreI just stopped in for a quick lunch here at this location. Have been once or twice prior but just to pick up food. This day I decided that I wanted to actually sit down and enjoy my meal there within the restaurant and I was able to watch and see how everything operates within this location. I’d been to another location within the state and it definitely did not feel like a great dining experience prior whereas coming to the Augusta location was an absolutely positive experience. Food was prepared exactly how I wanted it and the service was very engaging and pleasant. At a previous visit to another location, there was a lot of yelling and shouting back-and-forth between employees about things that did not pertain to the work environment and it was a little off setting. That definitely was not the case here in Augusta. The the current managing staff was using teachable moments throughout the time that I was there and I got to see how she took the time to help develop the staff member’s skills on something as simple as wrapping a sandwich. I did take the time to step aside after finishing my meal to make them aware of how impressed I was with how well run this location was. Would highly recommend a visit here with their incredible staff...
