Let me say this before I start this review...I AM NOT AN ADVENTUROUS EATER!!! I can eat the same thing every day for the rest of my life, if it's tasty.
A friend of mine coerced me into trying Indian cuisine for the first time here since he had been here before and raved about it. I had my reservations but decided to give it a go!!
The owners welcomed me with open arms and explained all the menu items I had questions about. A suggestion about the menu to the owners from me is, that they should give a detailed description of each item on the menu so they won't have to explain the menu each time to new customers or maybe that's a way to interact with the customers.
I ended up settling for the Chicken Biryani and Nann. It was a big portion but I did not like this dish at all. It was sweet and the spices wasn't pleasing to my taste buds. I did enjoy the Nann though, I order 3 extra portions.
The owner did let me try something else off of the menu at no charge. He even let me keep the original order. I tried the Chicken Marsala the next time. It was better but I wasn't a big fan of it. I had to slowly eat the food because the smell and the taste of the spices made me so nauseous.
I'm usually a person that loves worldly spices and ethnic food but I guess I can scratch Indian cuisine off that list. I do want to try the lamb dish they offer here but it's only available on the weekend.
I gave this place 4 stars even though I didn't enjoy the food because of the customer service and the owners willing to please their customers at all costs. That's what great business is...
Read moreToday was our first visit, we found this place through a Google search and wanted take-out Indian food. This is a small hole-in the wall restaurant that does take-out only, so definitely call in your order. It took about 20 minutes. The food was very "homestyle" and felt toned down from your typical Indian restaurants (it wasn't as spicy hot) but the portions were large. Everything was fresh and tasted great, I was just looking for more intense flavors. The Samosa Chaat appetizer was delicious. It's a samosa cut in half on a bed of chickpeas and chutney (it's a large portion so get ready to share). My husband raved about the "layers of flavor" when eating it and loved the switches from sweet and spicy. I got the Chicken Sabzi which was cubed chicken and cubed potato in a yellow sauce with spices, with a side of rice. He got Chicken Frontier which was just okay, it wasn't our favorite (not enough flavor that we were looking for), but would be great for kids or anyone who's picky. It was a rice dish with cubed tandoori-tasting chicken, onions, and peppers all mixed into the rice. We also got Naan bread, which is always recommended when eating Indian (each order of naan comes with 2 warmed halves). Our meals came with a flavorful white sauce on the side-we have no idea which dish it was for but it was very tasty and went well with everything, even to dip the naan in. We spent $30 for our 2 entrees, appetizer, and 2 orders of naan. Overall the food was good and fresh, and better for people who can't tolerate...
Read moreMy room mates and I love this place! We discovered it on Yelp one evening when we were looking for a Indian restaurant in Augusta. It was delicious! Each time that we have gone we have all shared and gotten different things so I cannot tell you what is the best- so try whatever, I'm sure that it is all good!
This location is really set up to be a carry out restaurant only, just because of the size. There are two small tables (and each time we've gone we've been lucky enough to come at just the right moment when the larger of the two tables is free and we eat there.) and a counter so if you don't want to wait inside it might be best to call in your order.
The first time that we went after eating our meal the owner came out with a plate of (I can't remember the first word but it begins with an "S", but there are only a few dessert options so you will not have a hard time figuring out which it was) Delight. It was warm and it melted in your mouth. Get...
