Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen — Restaurant in Aurora

Went in for lunch today. Got seated quickly. Calvin our server came over got our order. Up to this point every thing was good. Got drinks and chip and queso. Then Calvin disappeared. No napkins or silverware. Had to go to the bar and get the napkins and silverware. Waiter came by drink refills left drity app plates and empty glasses. Food came out he finally takes app dishes. The disappeared again. Horrible service. Now the food just plain bad. Daughter got grilled fish tacos. To much pepperl. The Mac cheese was mush. The pasta was over cooked. My husband had the Monte Cristo very oily not good at all. He couldn't even eat it. I had the philly cheese steak. Had whole mushrooms in it and very little meat. Still waiting on Calvin to come by and check on us. Had to go to the bar again and get mayo for my sandwich. After finding the whole mushrooms I couldn't finish eating my sandwich. Still no waiter had to go to the receptionist desk and ask for my bill. The waiter finally came with the bill and asked me if I wanted a military discount since I was wearing my husband's veteran hat. Now who wouldn't want a discount. I decided I was going to split his tip with the bartender since she was so nice and helped me a couple of times with the napkins silverware and Mayo because he decided to disappear in the back. I did leave him a $5 tip but I also tip the bartender $5 and told he was a horrible server. The only reason he did get a tip was because it started out good. This Cheddar's was so disappointing. The one in Colorado Springs is absolutely amazing. My husband wanted to go to Chipotle's but I chose to go here. I ordered a cup of soup to start my dinner of Blackened Catfish. The fish came out like grilled without a few flakes of back pepper, not blackened at all. When I asked where my soup was that was supposed to come first, the server said “they never put it up”… I took a taste of the fish and decided I wanted something else. I ordered a Blue Moon and it came without the usual slice of orange and I asked my server about the orange nothing was done until I finally sent back my entire meal and asked for the manager during which time I did get a whole quarter of and orange brought to me in a monkey dish. The manager was very nice and apologized. I said let’s just replace the fish with something simple, and I orders a burger and fries. Those came and were good, but by that time my appetite had left and the whole experience was off so I ate only half and asked for a take home box. The server brought me the box and the check. I expected to have the original items removed but the soup was still on the check. At that point I was afraid to let the server take my cc to pay the bill, so after I pointed out that the soup was still on the bill I got up and followed the server to the kiosk where payments were processed and the manager look at me and said “I’m not charging you for your meal”. Which being in the restaurant and food service industry I felt was the best she could do to recover my experience.

Let me preface this by saying normally this location has good service and food. However, something has changed. We were the only Black people in the restaurant and I really hope that wasn’t the reason we had the experience we did on this day. Please read below.

Today, I went to Cheddars with my family. If I could give this experience 0 stars I would. We waited about 30 minutes to get our food without our waiter John checking on us or refilling our drinks. It was very poor service. They forgot to put bacon on my husband’s chicken sandwich. As we waited to get my husband’s bacon we discovered a hair deep embedded in my salad. I was given a salad without all of the sauce filled and missing the mango salsa. It was just thrown together without any care . When we brought this to our waiter’s attention he gave us the option to remake the salad. I said okay. As the salad was being remade the lady (not sure of her title) came by with my salad sauces and asked what happened to my salad. I told her about the hair. She just said “Oh shoot!” Her nor the waiter John actually apologized or acknowledge how unacceptable the hair in the food was. Then, my husband’s chicken sandwich wasn’t properly cooked. Needless to say he didn’t finish eating it. The only reason they got 1 star is because I couldn’t give them 0 and my son’s kid Jr cheeseburger had no issues.

We believe in giving good tips. This was the first time we did not leave a tip. The experience was that terrible. Do better!
