I came here for drinks and food with three friends around 9pm on a Saturday night, maybe our expectations were too high since we are not from around here, but our experience was just downright uncomfortable. When we first walked in, we all felt as if we were being starred at so when we were greeted we requested a table outside. We were seated, ordered our drinks, and it took about half an hour to get our drinks. When we got our drinks, they did not bring mine and brought my friend a drink she didn’t order along with the drink she did order. I reordered my drink and we all ordered our food; that was the last time we saw that waitress. We understood they were busy, we were sitting right outside the door and we saw the consistency of customers. But, we also saw a man trying to break into cars in the parking lot, quite a few people walking in and out of the restaurant to sell/buy what we only can assume was drugs. We came here because the reviews said it was tourist/family friendly.. that is far from the truth. My boyfriend and I both had to use the bathroom since we were in the car a while before we got there, but when we got to the bathroom the women’s was locked. I went into the men’s bathroom to use the stall, since I felt EXTREMELY targeted standing alone by the bar waiting to use the women’s. I ended up not using the bathroom because it was as disgusting as the treatment we were receiving. We waited almost an hour before we decided we wanted to get our food to go, considering I still hadn’t gotten my drink. My boyfriend went to find an employee but came back with no success. A woman shortly came out and asked us what was wrong, so we immediately filled her in because it seemed as though she was the manager. We also requested my drink again, but a few minutes later a young girl came out and told us that we could no longer order alcohol because it was after 10pm, and didn’t even ask if we wanted something else, just walked away. So, I never got a drink. We got our food pretty quickly after that, which was warm and okay tasting. I definitely didn’t get what I ordered, but I still ate some of it because I was hungry. No one came out to check on us for another 20-30 minutes, so someone again went inside to get a server so we could pay our bill and get the rest of our food to go. He also didn’t have any success, so that that point we were just ready to go and it felt like they didn’t want “our kind” there anyway. So we left $60 on the table and left. Will not be going back, and I don’t want to say it was a race thing, but it truly did feel like it. Don’t waste your time or money - we...
Read moreon friday july 16, 2021 about 9:00 p.m. my boyfriend and I decided to go to los Toritos. I didn't really want to go because I was not impressed with the food last time we went. so I gave it another try to try something different. my boyfriend was very hungry just picked up him from work. we usually go to the paraiso mexican restaurant or carboncitos mexican resturant. I told my boyfreind before we went inside not to go but he was so hungrey he did'nt want to wait. the music was very loud. He order a cocktail de cammarones and I order caldo de res. the waitress was very nice and friendly she said she was from el Salvador but when we got the food it was horrible. my meat was very hard not soft and had to get my boyfriends fork and could even seperate the meat and his coctail de cammarones had a bad taste like just lemon and water. we told the waitress she exchange my food for guacamole tostadas with cheese it was very good but my boyfriend exchange for another coctail de cammarones and didn't like it either only took a quick sip. I talk to the waitress and said she was going let the manager know. since it wasn't the waitress fault. I gave her a tip and told to bring the manager. when manager came she was very unprofessional and very rude. and said she taste the caldo de res her self and it was good. and she said I was lying and she was still going to charge me for the cocktail de cammarones that it was my problem not hers. how rude is that?? my parents always told me the customers is always right. very disappointed not going back. and my boyfreind end up not eating dinner that night he was disappointed too. I regret for not taking pictures of the food. My boyfriend didn't even took a bite of his coctail de cammarones and still charge us. The manager rather loose a customer then not charging the cocktail. I did like the guacamole tostadas there were good. but we are not going back with that manager she...
Read moreCam here on a recommendation by a local who said the food was fantastic. The person who recommended this place obviously hadn't had good Mexican food. Now, I've lived in Texas, Arizona and Colorado. I've been to many different parts of Mexico and while in that country I have had some of the best food I've ever tasted. Los Toritos does not reflect that tradition.
You know how it's claimed that you know a good ethnic food restaurant when the local culture eats there? This was that place. We walked in and the tables were full of local Mexicans. And the food wasn't that great. Heck, at one point the waitress told us one of the dishes was "chicken, shrimp and hot dogs." I asked my companion, "Did I hear that right? Hot dogs?"
Sure enough, our appetizer (which we didn't know) had hot dogs mixed in with bacon and chicken. Not that hod dogs are bad and not that hot dogs can't be a protein added to a meal, but when I want hot dogs, I don't go to a Mexican restaurant.
My friend ordered a mocajate dish and I ordered super (mixed meat) fajitas on recommendation from the waitress. My dish had fish fillet, shrimp and chicken along with just about everything you find in a fajita. Everything but tortilla shells. When I finally asked for some I was charged extra for them.
I've ordered mocajate dishes before and they have usually come with a large serving of cheese and cream sauce. My companions did not have much in the way of cheese or sauce.
However, the portions were good and what I did eat was fairly good, it just wasn't great. It definitely wasn't anything to write home about or return to this particular...
