We have never been here before and decided to try it out and come here to celebrate a birthday.
The welcoming at the door: There were 4 people standing behind the counter in black shirts, however the gentleman who seemed to be the manager (not in a black shirt) greeted us and told the host where to seat us. - the host taking us back didn’t engage in any conversation, such as asking if we have been here before etc… (not a huge deal) but he put the menus on the table then left. As guests never being here before we had no idea on how the menu worked or anything.
Server: Our server did greet us in a timely manner, however she did not introduce herself and just asked “what do you guys want to drink” again as guests never being here before, there was no explanation/offer of any type of beverage such as, can I get you a coke product, ice tea lemonade or a cocktail from the bar? So we just ordered waters for the time being.
Once we had a chance to actually see the drink menu, I ordered a white claw and my friend asked the waitress for a screwdriver. The waitress had know idea what that cocktail was so my friend politely explained it’s a cocktail with vodka and oj, but for the vodka can I do grey goose or Belvedere. The waitress was super confused (obviously not familiar with brands of alcohol/what they carry or even what top shelf meant)
Ordering food: There was still no explanation of the menu or suggestions or recommendations on appetizers or anything… but luckily we all have been to a seafood boil restaurant before and they’re all very similar.
We ordered raw oysters to start and they came out quickly and were very good, however we had to ask for forks, and saltine crackers so we could enjoy them. The baby Tabasco bottle are adorable
1st boil: was 1lb of lobster (which was 3 tails) and half lb of shrimp Cajun sauce mild… lobster tails were not over cooked (as some boil places tend to over cook them) sauce was good but wish it was a little thicker came out in a bag and was tossed, the bag did split open but that tends to happen luckily it didn’t get on us lol
2nd boil: scallops, shrimp, crab, mussels, sausage in there house sauce. Everything was cooked great, came out in a foil pan.
We were provided only 2 plates, for 3 of us but did have gloves, bibs and crab crackers and plastic forks… we had to ask the waitress for crab splitters as the plastic forks didn’t work (obviously) and she had no idea what we were asking for.
Birthday: They do have a cute light up sign, sing u happy birthday and give you a piece of cheesecake… but definitely seemed more as nuisance/chore from the staff vs a celebration.
Our tab: 6 raw oysters $14.00 White claw (2) $12 Screwdriver (2) ?? Maybe $20?
Boil 1: 1lb lobster: $49 1/2 shrimp: $9.50
Boil 2: 1/2lb shrimp: $9.50 1/2lb black mussels: $7.00 1/2lb sausage: $5.50 1lb scallops: $35 1lb snow crab: $31 Boiled eggs: $1.70
Total according to the menu would be roughly $194.20 with out tax
Total Tab: $221.73 ish
After leaving we noticed they were on a wait but that the bar stools were leaned up against the bar rail (as they didn’t want you to sit) there) seemed odd..
All in all as it was our first time here we enjoyed the food but the employees need to be retrained and...
Read moreWe came here to celebrate my mom's and my birthdays. Because everyone told me to decide where to go, I decided to come here because I was craving a seafood boil and this was the closest to our homes. I also figured that since no one had been here, we should give it a try.
They don't take reservations and had a 45 minute wait for a party of 9. Turns out we only had a party of 7 and they were able to seat us but they don't seat incomplete parties and I was running 15 minutes late, which is fine.
Our server greeted us once we were seated and took our drink order. Our drinks came out and we placed our food order. Our food came out in a normal time frame and everything tasted great.
My brother didn't know that if you order only 0.5 lb of crab, you don't get any sides so he ordered some. However, we had to flag down another server to find our server to place the extra order of sides.
Because a few people in our party ordered crab, we needed crab crackers and had to flag down another server to find our server. Flagging down passing servers to get our server became the norm for our dinner. My brother was done with his meal and his sides never came out so we canceled them, but I'm pretty sure the order for the sides was never input as more than 30 minutes elapsed.
We had to ask other servers to let our server know that we needed a refill on our drinks and another time to get our check.
I understand that we had a sizeable group and that 18% gratuity is mandatory because most people suck at tipping, but I felt like our server took advantage of the automatic tip and just let us fend for ourselves, which put more work upon his other co workers to find him. The restaurant wasn't super packed and I didn't see our server running around helping other tables as if he was overwhelmed; I think he just slacked off on our party.
While the food was delicious, I doubt I will return due to the service. I used to work in the service industry and know how things can be. I can also be very understanding when I see people hustling, however, I can also recognize when someone just completely ignores us and it's hard to not correlate it to the...
Read moreThe service here is wretched. Considering there were only a few customers waiting ahead of my party, they were slow to attend to any of the groups. The maitre d'e was neither friendly nor attentive. There was a definite lack in the sense of urgency to assist their patrons.
The decor was bare minimum, with cheap tablecloths on each table and very little else. The head writer seemed to have a very nasty attitude and was hesitant to help us at all. He passed is several times without so much as an acknowledgement. Several other members of the wait staff behaved similarly, which was a bad start to a special evening.
My food, the #5, medium spicy garlic butter (seasoning) with breaded sweet Thai chili chicken wings, was a mixed bag of results. Discussing the #5, the seasoning actually was a bag near full of butter and seafood. The seafood itself was overdone, not clean or tasty. The chicken wings were tasty but dry and without an accompanying sauce for dipping.
To add insult to injury, we were seated next to a large, rude group that spent more time ogling the 2 of us than they spent eating their food. There were plenty of empty tables available with which we could have been accommodated. We did not enjoy our dinner and will not return to this establishment. We highly recommend Red Lobster over the mess presented to us.
Overall, we have had the worst taste in our mouths at this location, from entry to service to aftercare. We have urged our friends and family to avoid this restaurant at all costs. It's overpriced, less than clean and tidy and the service is abysmal. Thank goodness we did not indicate we were reviewers; it's best to see a company in their true nature to get a better gusher of what to expect when dining at a place such as this.
I would absolutely give The Juicy Seafood a complete zero for the experience we faced. The only thing juicy we found were the drinks we were served, in which the first round was weak and the second round was much too strong. It's a pity, when we are seafood lovers and know good seafood from less than stellar fares.
1 star, generously...
