I have been wanting to try this place for years but only recently got around to it. My first visit was great. Hubs food portion was a bit on the smaller side, but overall not terrible. Mine was great overall, kimchi jjigae is my go to comfort food. My only complaint was the kimchi used in my stew was not nearly as fermented as it should be for the dish, but can let it slide. Sadly, I came here again on Mother's Day last weekend as my lunch treat (quite lunch alone without kiddos). Once again ordered kimchi jjigae, this time with extra noodles as sweet potato noodles are my weakness. However, I instead was served my kimchi jjigae with Ramen noodles. What!!! Not how it was just a few weeks ago when I last came in, nor how it is traditionally made. When I asked about it, my service tried to gaslight me into believing Ramen is the standard way to serve the dish. Stating if I wanted it with "patato" I needed to request that, and she could charge me for a replacement bowl with them. I will not waste food first off. Secondly, I will not pay for a second bowl because the first was wrong. And lastly, while I have a white father, yeah my mom was born in Seoul. I am not going to let a server try and serve me white Korean food just because I order in English and don't look Korean. Nor will you ever make me believe that it is standard served with ramen noodles. This visit has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I can't imagine giving this location my money. I've eaten at Sokongdong Tofu House franchise locations coast to coast. This has been the biggest...
Read moreI had visited here last Sunday with my family and we had 3 kids with us. When my wife walked in there with one of our kids, asking for a table for five, the waitress flat out refused to serve us, citing that they did NOT have any available table. My wife walked out without saying anything with our youngest daughter in her arm, just awestruck. I could not believe what she had just told me, so I walked in there and not knowing that I was with her, they offered me a table. So be WARNED!!! They do NOT want your business if you bring your kids to their restaurant. They DISCRIMINATE against families. And this is how they serve in general, I can only imagine how ethical they would be on your food. Seriously... this place is not like some high-end restaurant. Soft Tofu restaurants are typically family friendly places to dine . I am a Korean myself and I only came here out of convenience. I only had one take out here prior to this experience and it really even wasn't that good, but I figured that it would be a quick lunch in the Sunday afternoon. Having lived in Southern California and New York City, this restaurant wouldn't survive a week with this type of RUDE service and MEDIOCRE flavor. Anyway, I had such a terrible experience here, I will be sure to tell anyone NOT to dine here. Just unbelievable overall experience!!!! in a...
Read moreI came to this place all the time for their tofu soup and ice noodle soup. However, last week, I ran into an unpleasant experience with a Korean lady (maybe owner who knows) over the 20% discount for 5 visits. I got the 20% discount after 5 visits but decided not to use it since I wanted to wait until I go with my friends. Usually I had no issues with delaying usage of the coupon, as their software allows it and the message I got in my phone says “the discount is valid today and never expires.” Even my friend saw the acknowledgment message on the check-in screen. However, the lady insisted that I cheated since currently it showed I’ve just had 2 visits. She had an unfriendly attitude and sounded like I was trying to abuse “the system”. This left a pretty sour taste in my mouth not wanting to come back even though this is my favorite place for tofu soup. This lady’s service was also lacking all along, always rushing and didn’t bring more banchan for us when we asked. I usually had no issues with other servers, quite nice and attentive. Just this specific lady who made me feel so un-welcomed. If you really crave the soup, this is the...
