Apt 115 is my favorite bar in Austin, period. Joe and Colin and the rest of the gang are insanely knowledgeable about their craft, without being intimidating or wine-snobbish. Joe particularly loves to showcase natural wines and/or local wines, so there's really something for everyone. Whether you prefer a more traditional cote du rhone (try the Domaine l'Espigouette) or want something that's been through a double fermentation (try pretty much anything from Fausse Piste) or want something that's from Texas (try anything from CL Butaud), Joe can always point you in the right direction.

If you have questions, ranging from finding your perfect go-to bottle, to asking for a history lesson on the glass/bottle you're about to enjoy, the team always knows what to do/say. When I originally came to Apt 115 last year, I knew nothing about wine (for reference, I was a recent college grad who drank from wine in a box - YIKES!) to knowing which regions I like, which vineyards I prefer, and even specific bottles to seek out when I don't have the experts at Apt 115 in my back pocket.

If you're alone or with a group, try a charcuterie board or at least one of their meat or cheese selections. The team (especially Sparrow and Colin!) makes KILLER boards (they're also very Instagrammable, if you're into that!). They rotate their cheese and meat selections somewhat frequently, allowing them to guarantee a high standard of quality for us. I personally am more of a charcuterie kind of person, so I make sure to try at least one of their selections when I'm there. They have everything from summer sausage to prosciutto to salami.

Finally, their happy hour is such a steal. It's everyday (including weekends) from 5PM - 6PM. It's $5 off all wine by the glass on the printed menu and $1 off all draft beer. The selections on their printed menu are great quality and very fair prices. Even when it's not happy hour, I still almost always order off the printed menu, especially if I want to try something new without getting overwhelmed by the...

This is absolutely the best experience we've had in YEARS. We got lucky and were able to get the 13 course bespoke pairing and were absolutely STUNNED.

I'm not going to go into each dish because you'll likely not experience the same thing as they change it all the time.

What's important to know is the owner knows his stuff, the wine menu is deep and knowledgeable, and the chef is absolutely top notch.

The service was attentive, entertaining, and even coy and funny at times. It was a slower night but it was easy to tell that everything was planned carefully, including the vynil selection which had us vibing for nearly 4 hours.

What a small, unassuming place with knowledgeable and skillful folks bringing you the best Austin has to offer.

The old world selection of wines will make anyone who feels they've experienced it all born again. You won't get lost because their expertise and guidance through the evening is unmatched.

Spare the few extra bucks and go the entire 9 yards here. It's worth every penny. I can't even think of an experience to compare it to. So glad we picked this place and can't wait to come back.

Don't come in with any type of experience in mind, let the owner, chef, and staff make all the decisions and you won't be left disappointed.

I never gush but I can't go far enough to say how amazing the meal, wine pairings, staff, and...

DON’T TRUST THE ONLINE RESERVATION PLATFORM.

I paid the reservation in their online platform, Tock, and they accidentally forgot to include a credit to my account for dinner and overcharged me $130. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until I had already signed and paid. When I confronted them about the discrepancy at the end of dinner, they had me wait with my guests at the restaurant for about 30 minutes while they tried to get their machine working to get me a refund. Manager apologized profusely and said the system was not working and they were unable to refund me but promised it would be taken care of.

Unfortunately that was never done and now I am having to dispute the charge through my credit card company… and APT 119 is denying my claims, and even sent in evidence of my signed receipt as proof.

This was months ago and I usually get irritated by reviews like this one that don’t speak to the food/atmosphere, but I just want everyone to know you have to watch your reciept like a hawk if you made the online reservation. Make sure your credit gets applied and don’t trust them if they say they will get the refund back to you.

The food was good and the waiters...

Updating with another review. This place always is getting better--hard to do when you're at the top already. We had a tuna crudo w roe that was off the chart--even better than the murder point oysters--and the duck confit was incredible. Closing w a Solera Champagne (harvest 2012) to close w dessert put a smile on my wife's face. 5 stars aren't enough. ____________________________________ My reviews seem to disappear over time but this establishment is always fabulous and another great review is overdue! I just tasted a Fennel Confit that was both savory and addictive. A cheese plate is coming, and the Jamon (Spain) selections look decadent. We also ordered the rabbit--the menu changes all the time, and I've never had the same thing twice, but we've come here for years for the amazingy curated wine selection. I honestly could not speak more highly of any place for wine and small plates in an intimate setting. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the experience would not be complete without them. New Years Eve here is incredible, by the way, even if I'm off-topic--there is always a bomb wine and bubbles tasting. 5 STARS!
