AVOID RENTING – Extremely Immoral and Shady Property Management - Extremely loud and not quiet - see video

I want to share my awful experience at Sentral Apartments, so you can avoid falling into the same trap of dishonest practices and terrible living conditions. It is crucial that you know the truth about this place before making the mistake of signing a lease.

Sentral Apartments makes big promises about providing an amazing and peaceful living environment. But let me tell you, those promises are nothing but lies designed to deceive people like me. The reality is that Sentral Apartments intentionally lied to me about how noisy the units are, and it resulted in a complete disregard for my well-being.

When I spoke with Karyn, one of their employees, she assured me that noise wouldn't be a problem. She even claimed that the windows in the units were designed to block out most of the noise. Well, let me tell you, that couldn't be further from the truth. After moving in, I quickly discovered that there was an outdoor bar right outside my window that played loud music until 2 am every single night. They conveniently failed to mention this when I was prospecting.

The noise at Sentral Apartments was unbearable, making it impossible to sleep or focus on anything within my own home. They simply didn't care about my well-being. In fact, when I expressed my desire to terminate my lease due to the unbearable living conditions, the property manager responded callously with, "What do you want me to do about it?" To make matters worse, they forced me to pay an outrageous amount of fees that equates to 5 months of rent, even though I only stayed in the unit for three days before realizing the truth and deciding to leave.

It is clear that Sentral Apartments values their profits over the happiness and satisfaction of their residents. Their lack of integrity and shady practices should serve as a warning to anyone considering renting from them. Nobody should have to go through the physical and emotional stress that I endured, nor should they be treated as an inconvenience when raising valid concerns.

I urge all potential renters to stay away from Sentral Apartments. Don't be fooled by their false promises and misleading claims. This is not a place where you will find peace or be treated with respect. Instead, you will find yourself trapped in a never-ending nightmare, with your concerns being completely ignored.

By sharing my story, I hope to protect others from the same awful experience I had at Sentral Apartments. Nobody deserves to live in such a place, where tenants are treated as unimportant and their well-being is disregarded.

Update in response to Sentral's Comment - Unfortunately, I am not the first person to complain about sound, and there is a very thorough addendum included within the lease that voids all responsibility of Sentral for their commercial partners / neighborhood. Therefore, in any instance of sound at any time of the day, Sentral bears no responsibility. For a property management company who claims that they "care about their residents", having such a strict addendum coupled with a response of "what do you want me to do about it" speaks...

I honestly wish I could say good things about this location—it seems like a pleasant place to stay!—but unfortunately Sentral management has shown itself to be dishonest and untrustworthy in its handling of my reservation.

I reserved a unit at 1630 through Airbnb for dates around the 2024 eclipse. I reserved early to lock in a reasonable rate, knowing there would be high demand.

Six weeks later, Sentral suddenly canceled my reservation, claiming that it was "not permitted" to rent out the unit for less than 30 days at a time. But this is clearly false: Sentral quickly relisted the same unit for short-term stays—and at 2.5x the price we'd agreed to.

It's hard not to conclude that Sentral canceled my reservation so it could jack up the rate and gouge visitors coming to town for the eclipse.

I've tried repeatedly to resolve the issue with management, but they've refused to honor our rental contract and insist that I have to pay a higher rate if I want to stay. I'm now forced to reserve alternate lodgings, which have increased in price by +$500 since I placed my reservation.

I would not trust a proprietor that deals with guests this way! They may well cancel your reservation if they decide they can fetch a higher price for a unit. Be forewarned.

UPDATE: Sentral claims behlow that the rate we agreed to was the result of a "computer glitch." This is also false--I corresponded with a Sentral associate the day after I made my reservation, who personally confirmed the details of my stay. And even if a computer glitch were to blame, it wouldn't change the fact that Sentral canceled my reservation six weeks after I made it so it could charge someone else more for the unit. This is embarrassing behavior for a business in the hospitality industry. Don't bother...

One of the best buildings you can live in in Austin, I cannot recommend this place enough. It may be a little expensive and apartments are pretty small but the management team, secure parking and overall safety of this building make up for it. Management is always available whether it be in person or by email, maintenance is quick to fix whatever you need, and the building is well kept. The only negatives I've been able to find with this building are people leaving out their trash 24/7 (the building has tried to reprimand this once since I moved in but it didn't do much, this is also a problem many buildings that have with trash valet) and not being able to buzz people into the building such as delivery people. HOWEVER the fact that no one can be buzzed in and you can't use the elevator without a fob adds so much security to the building its worth having to go down stairs to let people in. Being a young female who lives alone, the security you feel in this building and the parking garage(unfortunate to have to pay $100 for parking but it makes sense on such a popular street that has only pay parking) has been such a positive for me. Additionally, I can't speak to the thin walls much because I live on the top floor so its relatively quiet. You can definitely hear neighbors next door but honestly it's probably just because the apartments are so tiny. Also want to mention that one of the biggest positives of this apartment has been NO BUGS! This is such a rare find in any apt in Austin and has made living here so much more enjoyable. Overall, I really recommend this place, it might not be the most extravagant building with tons of amenities but if you're looking for reliable management, safety and being in the center of E 6th this place is so...
