December 2024

Cherry Creek Catfish is a great relaxing place to enjoy catfish and other menu options. The crowd is a bit older and see easily bring my parents here. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere great with walls covered with fishing items and history. Located at a shopping center there is lots of parking. The restaurant has both booth and table seating and easy to get in and out.

I ordered the Catfish Dinner with mashed potatoes, green beans, and macaroni & cheese as sides. There was four fried catfish fillets but only two hushpuppies. Luckily my wife had plenty on here plate so took two of hers. The sides were great and the catfish was hot to the touch but once cooled down dipped them into the tartar sauce. The catfish with its breading had nice flavor and enjoyed it very much. So if looking a place dedicated to catfish cuisine then this place is for you.

I ordered from Cherry Creek Catfish a few times for delivery and quickly fell in love with their catfish. Today decided to check out this place in person for lunch. It’s located in an older shopping center, but the place stands out with nice signage and nice catfish artwork in the exterior wall.

As I walked inside I noticed the place was very busy, but luckily a table was open. The place had great atmosphere and the menu had a lot of choices to choose from. I ordered the Catfish Po’ Boy which was four strips of fried catfish in a toasted roll with tartar sauce, lettuce and tomato, and fries.

When it arrived I notice a huge po’ boy, cut in half with a bunch of fries. This was definitely a huge meal. The catfish was very hot, moist and full of flavor. The breading was very crispy and delightful. It was a struggle to eat, so eventually had to use a fork to eat the catfish. It all blended very well and the fries were good too.

Add in a very friendly staff this place provided a great environment...

The food is great, however the staff are extremely rude. My wife ordered supper from Cherry Creek the other day via doordash. When the food arrived we were missing part of our order. No big deal. When my wife called the restaurant to place an order for pick and to make sure we didn't over pay, she was told by staff that "it's not our problem". Followed by being hung up on. So I called back again trying to make sure I didn't over pay and to simply order more food. They then told me that "our order was never in their system" and asked, "was I sure that we even ordered in the first place"?. Wow! I thought while looking at the incomplete order of food from cherry creek in front of me. I then decided to go ahead and go down there in person with my order. So, in person, with food from their restaurant, again I was told that they never received an order from me. I understand that doordash orders so I pulled that up and showed them so they could see the order a d pull it up to make sure I didn't over pay. Oh but again they insinuated that I somehow broke into their kitchen and cooked the food myself and then had it delivered to myself. So again I showed them the recipe. Finally after about 20 minutes of nonsense they some how come up with a recipe for my order showing me that I didn't over pay. I just decided that I'd leave rather then give Cherry Creek any more business. I understand people make mistakes and that's no big deal. What I don't understand is why the Staff at cherry creek had to be so extremely rude to my wife and I, when all that needed to be done was spend a little time checking to see if I'd over paid or not. If that would have happened I simply would have just placed a new order for pick up and been on my way.

Me or any of my friends and family will ever eat at Cherry Creel Catfish ever again. That experience was absolutely ridiculous. I hope they can find better staff...

We have a group from our church ranging from 6-20 people that go out to eat at different restaurants after church each Sunday. Cherry Creek Catfish on South Menchaca is on our list and is one of our favorites. David Mosell was the owner and always took very good care of us. He operated the business in a very professional manner and always appreciated us. Unfortunately David passed away after our last visit a few weeks ago. Today was the day Cherry Creek was on our lunch list again. Everyone loves Cherry Creek, so we had 19 in our group today. When we came in the new manager or owner treated us with unbelievable disrespect. He told us we could not have separate checks and we could not be seated until all 19 arrived, even though we were going to be at separate tables. We all decided to leave and go somewhere else. I told this man that he was very disrespectful and we would no longer be eating at his restaurant. He just said sarcastically that was our choice. I told him do you realize you just cost your business about $400, he just said he did not care. He also told another member of our group that said she did not carry cash, that maybe in the future she should stop at an ATM before coming next time. Again very unprofessional. He also walked through the middle of our group while we were waiting and said the sooner we got out of his way, the sooner we would be seated. Just very concerning and upsetting. We are a group of 70 year old plus people that love to support our local eating establishments and enjoy each other’s company. We are deeply concerned that Cherry Creek has taken this negative turn and we know David will look down from Heaven and be very upset the way this has played out. We will no longer attend Cherry Creek...

After another day of exhausting but rewarding internships at Synopsys, I decided to reward myself with some delicious guilt-fried seafood at Cherry Creek Catfish on Menchaca Road. The moment I stepped in, the cozy, lived-in charm of the place hit me—a classic Texan diner vibe with red leather booths, neon beer signs, ceiling fans spinning lazily, and a wall decorated with vintage posters and fishing memorabilia. It’s the kind of joint where time slows down and conversation flows easily. I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish combo, which arrived on a blue plate piled high with golden, crispy pieces that still somehow managed to be light and tender inside. Underneath hid a bed of thick-cut fries, and the meal was rounded out with creamy coleslaw, beans, ranch, and a zesty cocktail sauce. It was indulgent but satisfying—comfort food done right. The beans in particular surprised me with their smoky flavor, and the slaw added just the right amount of cool contrast. Condiment options were generous, with a full caddy of hot sauces and other essentials on every table. The service was warm, the portions generous, and the whole experience left me full and happy. Cherry Creek Catfish knows what it does best—and does it without pretense.

Cherry Creek catfish has more dishes than just catfish, which is delicious. Tonight I chose the chicken fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes instead of french fries. I also got the sweet potato fries for an appetizer. These were delicious. And the amount of food was more than I could eat so I was able to bring enough home for a small meal. And I always like that! The friends I went with got the triple platter that includes ribs and fish and sweet potato fries. And for appetizers they had fried pickles and fried mushrooms. I have pictures of all of this for you to look at. The waiter we had was attentive to our needs and brought our food in a timely manner so that it was hot and very tasty. Everyone in their wore their mask until eating and the tables were spaced apart for the six feet distance. I am in a wheelchair and the hostess was very kind and seeding me with taking the chair away and putting me at a table close enough for me to move around. I hope you enjoy the pictures that I took, especially of the support dog, Ruby Tuesday, who was chowing down on one of the ribs from his owner.
