I was sooo embarrassed that I told my husband that the food here was gonna be awesome (because of all the great reviews)! First the ice in our cups came from an ice chest in the front in which they pick the ice out with their bare hands! Then they give you your over-priced CAN of soda to pour in the cup yourself. The staff does not speak hardly any English at all so if you need to ask questions make them very short word easy ones. THE FOOD is what was so embarrassing (my husband is from Mexico ) ...he ordered menudo and they were out of the corn for the soup (hominy). At 11:45 a.m. ...OUT. He said its ok and opted to wait for the soup and I ordered Migas. When he got his soup the cilantro and onion mix was just cilantro STEMS ..barely any leafs of cilantro...the Migas plate had so much cheap cheddar cheese melted on top that when I used my fork to pick up eggs it was all ONE glued together piece. The potatoes that they gave me were 5 little square potato chunks...and they provided us with 3 tortillas for my Migas plate and HIS bowl of soup. When I asked the only lady that seemed to understand English( kind of)...why only cilantro stems for my husbands soup ...she said "those have good flavor too". ...it was quite embarrassing that I brought my husband here and we left still hungry. DON'T WASTE...
Read moreSoooooo, I had been coming here since I first moved here 20 years ago. This was the place I brought my family and friends for really good Austin Mexican food. It used to be the place I came for delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner. No more. While I understand things change, the food has changed for the bad. Queso is canned cheese like the stuff you get at baseball games. We tried the fajitas for two since the menu has now changed, they added fried burnt bacon as a filler. The wait staff had a few of the original ladies, but when it came time for refills, they were nowhere to be found. Not sure if the original owners have sold to someone else or they thought about upgrading, but if this their idea of an upgrade, you failed. I really wish I could give a great review, this was one of my go to places, one of my favorite places to sit and eat excellent food and relax. But that's not the case anymore. Even my husband who had been bringing his bosses from out of state said he would need to find another place, it had gone downhill according to one of the men who looked forward to eating here when he came to Texas. And yes, this was a place I came to on a regular basis, so I know what they served, this is not it. This is a poor idea of...
Read moreCalled in an order for pick up of breakfast tacos. From all the positive reviews I figure we could give this place a shot. Once I get there the first thing I see as I walk through the door is a lady spooning pepper into pepper jars from a 32 oz Styrofoam cup. Sitting right next her is another lady scooping green salsa from a large container into tiny 1 ounce cups. I should note that the container had crust all around it. I am greeted by the guy behind the counter who asks if I'm here to pick up, I say yes and tell him it was the 4 taco order. He looks confused, so I proceed to rattle off my order, oh, he says, we didn't get the last two. So I wait. He brings out a bag and tells me they are all in there. I decline his offering of salsa, and leave as I am in a hurry to get to work. I open the bag to find the tacos, I ordered bacon egg and cheese, the tacos I received were egg cheese and a sliver of bacon. One half slice of bacon. To top it off the tortilla was hard around the edges like it had been microwaved. My wife order potato egg bacon and cheese. She got potato and egg tacos. I would have been satisfied if they had just got our order right and didn't microwave the...
