The beef in the beef noodle soup is the best ive found in austin (thats where julies noodles effs up). The noodles (not hand pulled) and soup are tasty. Whats interesting about this beef noodle soup is there is a bit of sweetness, i think due to some of the greens.
Green onion pie, ill get this if i really craving green onion pie and im too lazy to make it at home. But its too thin and crispy for my liking. I like the green onion pies that are a little crispy on the outside and more layered dough fluffiness on the inside, but i havent found that yet in austin.
I like the peppercorn porkchop dish (the peppercorn chicken uses the same ingredients/flavors), esp the garlic in it, however i wish the jalapenos were spicy.
Dumplings (steamed or pot stickers) are okay
Zongzi (bamboo leaves) have the taiwanese essence but wish they stacked more pork in there. Din tai fungs zongzi is better.
Chicken nuggets arent bad at all - decent breading. They are dark meat. Wish the sauce that comes with it was spicy not sweet, but thatâs personal pref
Ground pork vermicelli is oily but i liked the flavor. I think the hard boiled egg in there is marinated, which is my favorite kind of hard boiled egg

Whether youâre craving a hearty meal or a refreshing drink, you really canât go wrong with anything on the menu. If youâre unsure what to order, Iâd highly recommend the peppercorn chickenâitâs flavorful, perfectly cooked, and an absolute standout dish.
What makes Cocoâs Cafe shine is the combination of quality and value. Itâs rare to find a spot where the food is not only delicious but also so reasonably priced. This affordability makes it a fantastic choice for students, families, or anyone on a budget.
The cafe itself is cozy and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to enjoy your meal. However, parking can be a bit of a challenge, as is often the case with downtown Austin locations. That said, the cafe is rarely overcrowded, so the slight inconvenience of parking is usually worth it.
Overall, Cocoâs Cafe is a great spot for casual dining. With its tasty menu, affordable pricing, and welcoming vibe, itâs a place youâll want to return to...
Read moreCoco's used to be my favorite spot, I would come here at least once a week before I moved to Houston. So when I moved back to Austin I had to come here. I usually get the peppercorn shrimp cabbage soup and their watermelon juice. Today when I went it started off great. The staff was very friendly however I was told the cabbage soup was no longer complimentary and was 3.00. I was really dissapointed by that. In my opinion that's one thing that set this place aside from any other Taiwanese spot. Their cabbage soup is so good and complimentary just makes people want to go back. Other than that when I was drinking my watermelon juice at the end of the cup I felt something hard in my mouth. When I took it out of my mouth it was a peice of fried food, there was a chunk of fried batter in my watermelon juice...and I hadn't even eaten anything yet so I know it wasn't just in my mouth. Lastly, the peppercorn shrimp was not the same in terms of flavor and it was very soggy for being made fresh. I'm not too sure if maybe it's new owners or just a bad day or what but I'm very saddened that my favorite place failed me...
