Day Maker Half Day Cafe isn't just a brunch spot; it's an experience. Each dish is a masterpiece, a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that tantalize the taste buds. The Anita's Churro Pancakes are a revelation: fluffy pancakes dusted with cinnamon sugar, paired with a rich horchata butter, a drizzle of sweet cajeta, and a sprinkle of Mexican chocolate. It's a symphony of sweetness that will leave you craving more.
The German Chocolate Waffle is another standout, a decadent delight with a cocoa waffle, whipped Nutella schmear, candied pecans, cocoa nibs, toasted coconut, and chocolate ganache. It's a textural and flavor sensation that will satisfy any chocolate lover.
For those seeking a savory start to their day, the Migas Verdes is a must-try. Crispy tortilla chips, salsa verde, scrambled eggs, refried black beans, Mexican crema, Oaxaca cheese, escabeche, and flour tortillas come together in a symphony of flavors and textures. The Steak Bowl is another winner, with a harissa-marinated ribeye, cauliflower fried rice, sweet potato, escabeche, poached egg, avocado, chipotle aioli, queso fresco, and a sunny-side-up egg. It's a hearty and satisfying meal that will leave you feeling full and happy.
And let's not forget the Lox Toast, a classic done right. Thick-cut sourdough bread is topped with cured salmon, whipped feta, cucumber, red onion, a simple salad, a poached egg, and capers. It's a light and refreshing dish that's perfect for a leisurely brunch.

Read moreDaymaker is a new breakfast concept from the well known Jack Allen's kitchen. It is a very festive super busy breakfast restaurant in south Austin. In ATX, breakfast choices are abundant so there must be something great to get big crowds like these here.
The inside of the restaurant is bright, loud, and vibrant. The menu has an interesting twist to many common dishes. Migas plate with verde salsa, Hangover enchiladas topped with a fried egg, huge thick pancakes, cinnamon rolls served in a big iron skillet, and a few options for eggs benedict. I had Chorizo Benny, not over seasoned flavored, great poached eggs along with a biscuit. They also serve burgers, typical breakfast dished, and chicken & waffles. The bar is serving up many different coffees, espressos, bloody marys, several wine options and fresh juice drinks. You also get served a variety of different salsas to choose from mild to spicy.
The service is also an excellent standout for this place. Servers are upbeat and filled with friendly conversation. Food comes out very quickly from the kitchen. Typical plate will be around $15.00. Servers say workday lunch crowd will also get busy with nearby offices. I have always enjoyed what the chefs make at Jack Allen's locations and you will not be disappointed with the menu selection offered here. This is a serious breakfast spot but just realize to get on the wait list early to beat...
Read moreI'm giving it a one star to leave a review! This morning, my friend and I went there to get me a coffee and wait for our Metro Access bus. We are both in wheelchairs. I got my coffee and was finished with it as it was way too sweet. My fault for not ordering black coffee. We were outside waiting for the bus. One came however, the reservation was taken incorrectly and the bus didn't have room for 2 wheelchairs. So the manager (I'm guessing he was) calls security and tells them that we are loitering! We told security that I left my $7 coffee on one of the picnic tables because it was way too sweet, I couldn't finish it. One of the security guards asked why we didn't get on the bus that came . I told her that the bus driver wouldn't let us on the bus because the driver didn't have room for 2 wheelchairs. Mind you, the man who called security on us NEVER ONCE talked to us!! Yes, my friend and I panhandled at the traffic light at Bee Caves Rd and MoPac but NOT in the cafe's parking lot and never aggressively. We were paying customers as I bought a $7 coffee that was so sweet I could barely drink it. This is the second time we've been there and the food I've seen there didn't look very appealing. This place isn't handicapped accessible, although someone did hold the door for us both times we've been there and the barista was friendly! The manager is truly lacking in managerial skills! The hosts are...
