Where there's smoke, there's fire! For the past few months, I've seen the name Home Slice Pizza pop up on countless posts talking about its perfect pizzas, super subs, and wild wings. I've heard the service is spectacular, and the ambiance is amazing.  One patron said it's the hottest pizza joint in town. I took a friend to lunch because he's a good guy, and he is an expert on East Coast, New York style pizza. It also allowed us to try  multiple dishes. We started with the Italian Sub ($12 Half & $22 Whole)  Their Italian was recently named one of the Top 13 sandwiches in Austin by Infatuation Austin, a local and travel website. When a handheld is hung with that type of praise, expectations are high. I have to say, it was the best Italian sub I  have tasted in the city.  My sample size is 19, and yes, I keep track.  Home Slice's version is cold, except that it is served on a toasted Italian sesame roll.  All the cold subs come with lettuce, red onions, tomato, mayo, provolone cheese, and oil & vinegar dressing. The meats on the Italian include ham, dry salami, capicola, and Geona salami. When you bite into the warm roll, you get a satisfying crunch before all the meats and vegetables hit your tongue, lighting it on fire with so many great flavors.  Their whole subs are huge, over two feet in length, and usually cut into four pieces.  Ladies, each one could be a meal for you. We also wanted to try the pizza because, well, it's a pizza joint.  They have two different styles New York and Sicilian.  We went one piece of pepperoni in both styles to compare and contrast them. I liked both stykes, but if you have to choose one, go with the NY style.  Perfect undercarriage (Thanks Dave Portnoy for adding thay to my vocabulary), and the sauce and cheese meld together for a yummy bite every time. For those not familiar with Sicilian style, it's square cut and has a foccacia-like crust. It has a spongy feel in the mouth, unlike the flatter, denser NY style. One of the reasons Home Slice sells so much Pizza is that you can order a full pie ($23 Large & $19.50 Medium), or by the slice ($4.25-$5.50 depending upon the style and type). They also have six specialty pizzas ($28.50 Large & $24.50 Medium). They are not hosing you in this time of high inflation. Home Slice had a full bar available, including a nice selection of house-crafted cocktails, as well as wine and beer (cans, bottles, and drafts). The restaurant is the perfect setting for business lunches and dinners, nights out with the family, or for date nights.  You have a number of different places to sit, there is the bar area with both rail and high top seating, main dining room and two tents with fans to dine outside when it feels like a five-alarm blaze. If you have a burning desire to relax at one of ATX's premire pizza places, give them a try.  They'll send you home with all your leftovers for a meal, the next day, and a Smarties candy for each person to say thanks for coming.

Update March 2025 Home Slice still serves up some of the best pizza in ATX! Stopped by on a recent weekday afternoon with the littles so they could enjoy the play area. Pizza, wings, Greek salad, all were delicious! Highly recommend Home Slice any day, any location! (Wish they’d open in Cedar Park/Leander!) LOL Update Nov 2024 Another OMG pizza adventure at Home Slice on 53rd! Arrived about 4:30pm, only took about 15 minutes to get a table outside…. Our first time in the outdoor area, fun with kids. Staff and service were great! Liam was our serving, OUTSTANDING waiter, made the meal painless (we had the littles! LOL). Thanks Liam! This time around we tried the wings. We prefer ours at home, but the wings at HS were pretty darn good. The kiddos had cheese/pepperoni pizza, decided they only wanted the cheese. Spent much of their time on the playground! We had the greek salad and two “tried and true” pizzas, eggplant and sausage/red pepper/ricotta. All food was excellent! We also enjoyed a nice bottle of Chianti. Rolls of Smarties served with the bill…! Always highly recommend Home Slice! Feb 2024 OMG ... stopped by Home Slice on the way home from an afternoon event downtown ATX, and all the memories came back! Home Slice has to be one of the top 3 in ATX pizzas... the newer location on 53rd St rocks. Great outdoor area for dining and kids' playground. We enjoyed the usual ... large Greek salad split, and a large pie 1/2 eggplant, 1/2 sausage ricotta cheese and roasted red pepper. Heaven on a steel platter! We prefer the salad and pizza arriving at the same time, no problem, staff on that... The salad comes with a couple of garlic bread knots, with hot marinara sauce on the side. We really don't like to go overboard on the carbs, but man, who can resist! The salad was super fresh, as always, served ice cold, dressing in perfect balance. The pizza was equally amazing... both the eggplant and sausage pizzas are on the "tried and true" part of the pizza menu, and for good reason... when you find a perfect combo, it should be on the inviolate list of pizzas where no changes or substitutions are allowed! We shared a nice bottle of Valpolicella, a decent Italian full-bodied red wine, perfect match for the pizza. We'll be back, and why not, one of the pizza icons in ATX for years. Highly recommend Home Slice Pizza, any location...

You might think to yourself, “self, home slice pizza is all about pizza-it’s in the name, I should get pizza.” You can live your life perfectly happy with that thought, and miss out on Austin’s best sandwich. I don’t say that lightly. Austin’s best sandwich is at home slice pizza. You might wonder how can you trust a faceless online reviewer, I’ve lived in 8 states, grew up in the northeast where sandwich culture’s heavy hitters and Jewish delis abound. The Italian sub at home slice (add some cherry peppers for a kick) is the best Italian sub I’ve ever had. They’ve got the balance and proportions down perfectly, they said not to mess with the recipe, and there’s a reason. You don’t need to mess with perfection. Don’t trust me still, get a half portion, have a few bites and if it’s not the best Italian sandwich you’ve ever had, then…well there’s not much recourse other than me apologizing for leading you astray. But everyone who’s tried it thus far have agreed it’s not close-it’s the best in Austin. If you get the sandwich to go, ask for their sauce on the side to keep the bread fresh-it makes all the difference. Want to experience the perfect sandwich in settings you may not think of, I highly recommend getting one and eating it before you fly out of Austin’s airport, or if you plan to spend hours on lake Travis or town lake-you haven’t lived until you’ve brought a home slice sandwich and eaten it as a boat sandwich. Picnic on zilker, home slice sandwich. Food after some yard work, home slice sandwich. Kids post-ball game dinner, home slice sandwich. Something to munch while Netflix and chilling, home slice sandwich. Midnight snack, home slice sandwich. When I’m doubt, home slice sandwich out.

Home Slice Pizza North Austin: Where Every Bite Feels Like Home

If you're craving an unforgettable dining experience filled with warmth, hospitality, and, of course, incredible pizza, look no further than Home Slice Pizza in North Austin. From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted with a sense of familiarity and comfort that instantly puts you at ease.

My journey with Home Slice Pizza began weeks ago when I discovered their mouthwatering sandwiches through takeout. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, leaving me craving more with every visit. But it wasn't until I stepped foot into their dining room that I truly experienced the magic of Home Slice.

From the first greeting to the final bite, the team at Home Slice goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcomed and valued. Their accommodating nature, friendliness, and attentiveness set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience that keeps me coming back week after week.

Bringing my entire family to Home Slice was a decision I'll never regret. From the youngest member to the oldest, everyone found something to love on the menu. The food was exceptional, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy.

As someone who can be quite particular about their food preferences (ordering a turkey sub without mayo, cheese, and dressing on the side every time can be a bit of a challenge), I can confidently say that Home Slice Pizza exceeded all expectations. They not only accommodated my requests with grace and patience but also delivered a meal that surpassed all expectations.

In conclusion, Home Slice Pizza in North Austin isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary oasis where every bite feels like coming home. Whether you're craving the perfect slice of pizza, a delicious sandwich, or just a warm and welcoming atmosphere to enjoy with friends and family, Home Slice has it all. I'll gladly return again and again, knowing that each visit will be filled with laughter, love, and, of course,...
