o Too much went wrong with this visit to explain, but I’ll type the mail issues. When I checked in, I asked if I could pre-order food from the Bistro. I was told “not usually, but you can always try and they might do it”. So I ordered DoorDash instead. Had 2 broken coffeemakers until 3rd one worked. Only 1 coffee cup came with the room with 3 lids that didn’t fit. Sugar packets were moist & stuck together. Gross. First time I called front desk for phone & coffeemaker I was told someone would come up, but after waiting 2+ hours (delaying my shower as to be able to answer door), still no one showed so I had to call front desk again. Was awakened BOTH mornings before noon by housekeeping banging on door even though Do Not Disturb sign was ON THE DOOR and I had requested 2:00 late check out. I was SOUND ASLEEP both times, with the expectation that I would be able to sleep. I called the front desk on the 2nd night to request late check out at 2:00. When I called the next morning after being awakened before noon, the lady said there was no note on my room for late check out and she didn’t get the note. She apologized & offered to add point to my bonvoy account. The phone did not work. When a worker came to fix it, I was told the room connection did not work for a phone. Yet he left the phone in the room (maybe for looks for the next guest?). Every time I had to contact front desk (probably 10 times in 2 days), had to call from my personal phone. Twice when I contacted front desk with problems, the lady who answered told me she was working on something else and I needed to hang on because she needed to finish what she was doing. (Sounded like older lady with smokers voice). The other times I called, the ladies wee much more friendly & helpful, not rude like the smoker lady. We ate at the bistro. After a longer than expected wait on our simple order, the meatballs that were served to us were practically still frozen in the middle!!! We had to send them back. When the “chef” brought out the new order, they were nice & hot. However we had also ordered a pizza which was supposed to have basil on top. There was arugula but not basil (totally different flavors). When we asked the “chef”, he said well it was only on there for color (!!!???!!!). But at least the pizza tasted decent. There was a light in the room under the TV that had a switch that didn’t work so I couldn’t turn it off (I didn’t bother calling about it after everything else). The guide on the TV didn’t work, so it was hit & miss trying to find a station. The elevator floor was held together with duct tape! This is where I will stop. I was so incredibly disappointed with this experience. I always use Bonvoy hotels, but never this one again. I stayed here about 10 years ago & I don’t recall having such a horrible experience, but the circumstances of my visit were also very different. The worst part, BY FAR, was being awakened by banging on the door BOTH mornings. When I had CLEARLY taken the necessary steps to prevent that from happening.

What I would recommend is just finding another Hotel and never even thinking about stay at this hotel! I booked this hotel for 2 day for a business trip. And it was the worst decision I ever made. Where do I start with the complains. 1st, The enterance of the hotel lobby was old and outdated. 2nd, the elevator had chipped tilles and dirty floors . Just smelled bad. 3rd. Upon arrival of room floor, the hallways had no a/c and a musty smell. Disgusting looking dirty carpet and stained floors. 4th. None of the floor levels had a working ice machine, only signs telling you to go to next floor for ice . Only to find out that none of the floors have a working ice machine. 5th. Entering my room, you are hit with a strong mold, humid, mildew smell. 6th. Carpet was extremely disgusting and dirty like it had never been cleaned or vacuumed in a very long time. 7th. Bed sheets were stained with something on it. Not sure what it was. 8th. Mini refrigerator was not working at all. 9th. Ceiling had paint peeling off and carpet ripped in a corner 10th. bathroom floors had not been mopped or swiped in a very long time. Had hair from previous person. 11th. Basic board in the bathroom had dry stains of blood or something similar along the side the walls. Overall, room was disgusting and not worth your hard earned money! This is just as bad a motel off the side of the road. Very disappointing that this a Marriott! This is not worth $100 a night or anything close to that a night. Better off renting a airbnb or staying somewhere else.

Great view of downtown Austin. Compared to most of the immediate surrounding hotels, the staff here is way above par. They are friendly, super accommodating and attentive to your needs. They have to be to make up for a dated and somewhat problematic old building that's seen it's better days. The entrance to the hotel from the access road is very hard to see. Don't be surprised if you miss it the first time. Don't freak out though, just continue down the access road towards 51st Street and follow the signs for the U-turn loop and swing back around. The King Suite had a great, unique layout with very thoughtful and useful furniture that I enjoyed. The room did have it's problems though. The large size requires 2 air conditioners to keep it cool and only 1 worked in my room. The toilet ran constantly and no amount of 'handle jiggling' would solve the problem. I finally just took the lid off and left it on the floor. The curtains that cover the wall of windows are also old and have been rigged to not draw back all the way. Then there are the actual windows themselves ... they must be the original ones from when the place was 1st built. Filthy, dingy, dirty on the outside. It makes seeing downtown hard even on a clear sunny day. If you're just hunting for a nice place for the night you'll be fine but don't expect anything over the top.

I didn't read the reviews until I actually got here. I saw everything from bed bugs talked about recently, to bad service, to rooms being half cleaned.

I did digital check-in and the electronic room key so I never experienced service at all. I can only assume it is good enough based on everything else I saw. Also, one of the reviews had a response from the hotel that stated they are in renovations. I didn't see any signs of that at all, but maybe they are doing it in phases. My room and floor, floor 5, have not been touched yet.

The pros. My bed was comfortable, I had towels, soap, lights all worked, door locked, bathroom was otherwise usable and clean, and two water bottles were available.

The cons. I may have been a little nit-picky on this stuff, but this was my first time in a Courtyard as I am switching to Marriott from Hilton due to the company I work for.

The hallway smelled quite stale that I was concerned for my room. The smell of the room was fine. I immediately notice my wall hvac unit was cracked and broken, but still seemed to work. The curtains were closed so it was dark in my room. Usually a cleaned room has curtains open and some lights on. The TV is crooked. The mount seems straight so my guess is someone messed with it and when seating it back caught a cable or something and now it sits funny. It looks trashy. At the desk below the TV there are no accessible outlets. I did find one, at the full reach of my power supply and I had to move furniture to get to it. This needs to get resolved for future business clients. The desk seems to be part of the furniture set but they don't line up, and it looks like it was spare furniture - busted up on one corner, and the laminate was warping on another part, and the two pieces don't line up - just looks thrown together. The corner of the carpet looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in a while. The light switch for the over-desk lamp is actually behind the TV. It took me a while to find it before going to bed. The shower hot/cold water nozzle is marked backwards. Hot is cold, and cold is hot. I had it on hot for a while thinking it needed to warm up or something. As I went to give up on a shower and turned it back towards cold I noticed it got hot. A small detail, but I didn't have a floor towel. Not sure if this property uses those, but not sure I have ever been in a hotel that didn't have one. Seemed like an oversight. I am 6'2", and the mirror in the bathroom wasn't tall enough. I had to duck down and squat a little to mess with my hair in the morning.

All in all, I survived, but for my first experience at a Courtyard I am not impressed at all. I won't have time to try the breakfast, but many of the reviews stated it may not even be set up, just depends on whether the person to does that shows up or feels like doing it. I will peek when I go down. I am ready to get out of here though.

Next Marriott I will try to avoid a Courtyard, unless this is just a property that...

Recently I stayed at this location and I would say I am at a lost for words but I have many words to describe my experience. I booked this hotel because I was in town for work and it was near the location I would be working at. Upon my arrival the young lady that greeted me at the desk was very friendly and welcoming so my first impression of the hotel and experience with the staff was a positive. She quickly got me check in and I immediately went to my room which was at approximately 8pm. When I entered my room I was shocked. The room was hot because the housekeeper turned on the heater in the room which made the room very stuffy and the smelled of mildew. The only way I can describe the smell is probably how the locker room smells after the super bowl. I was going to go to the store and get air freshner but it was late so I called the front desk to see if they had anything to freshen the room. The front desk attendant said she would come up to assess the room and bring freshner. She came up and immediately noticed the smell and sprayed the room which helped. She offered to switch my room but it was late and I was ready for bed so I declined so she offered to have my room cleaned while I was gone for the day. I showered which was disgusting in itself because I could hear my feet sticking to the floor as I walking in the restroom. I finally showered and went to bed. The next morning I visited the front desk to remind them about cleaning the room due to the smell, sticky floor, and food crumbs that were on the floor. They assured me that they would clean the room good for me that day. I returned that night from work around 10pm and noticed that nothing had been done. Housekeeping came in and made the beds but they did not do a clean of the room and the food crumbs from the previous guest was still under the bed. Once again being tired I went to bed and said that I would address it with the staff in the morning. The next morning I addressed it again and of course when I returned the room had not been cleaned and the food crumb was still there. I travel a lot for work and I typically stay at a Marriott for my personal and business uses and this hotel was a COMPLETE disappointment in so many way. From the smell, lack of cleaning, rusty bathroom fixtures, dirty wallpaper and popcorn ceiling I would certainly NEVER EVER stay here again and I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER recommend this hotel. Traveling for business is never easy because you are away from home but to stay in a hotel with limited room availability that is dirty and no one makes and effort to address the issue is really disturbing. This hotel needs to be renovated...
