We were in the hunt for a good curry place since its getting colder in Austin. We stumbled across this place, who is in the same Plaza as Dimassi where we often eat and decided to give it a try.
The menu is confusing since there is no picture and for novices like us, even googling the entrées was not helpful.. So we decided to stick with what we know and usually order : a vindaloo and a biriyani.
We opted for the ghee roast goat biriyani and the chicken vindaloo. The chef told us that Naan were complimentary with the vindaloo and would pair well.
Everything was absolutely amazing and delicious! We tried several places in Austin so far and will now only go to this one from now on : great portion, so many flavors, the right amount of spiciness (the chef chose medium for us which was a solid 6/10).
Because of covid, ustensiles and plates were plastic but it didn't take away from how good the food...
Read moreThe worst food and service. Do not visit this restaurant. I ordered chicken kadai and asked them to make it spicy. Being an Indian, I can handle spices but it seemed like they tried all the peppers in one dish. Bad taste. Unbearable and awful taste. Naan was given cold, when asked, cashier said chef made it before the food was ready so we’ll serve like this. He put his hands on the naan and took it inside as well. Don’t know who all put there dirty hands on the naan and got the same naan back. Very poor maintenance of hygiene. Then I saw a customer order the snacks kept in the front counter, the cashier put his hands in the paper bag to make space in it to put the snacks. Really- no gloves. Waste of money. Falling short of words to write more bad about this place. STAY AWAY FROM HERE if you want to...
Read moreIndia Gate did an incredible job catering our wedding! It was the first they had ever done and they absolutely crushed it with food that was the talk of the night! Seriously, people were saying it was some of the best food they had ever had at a wedding! They came incredible prepared with their servers and more than enough food to feed everyone at the event. They were kind enough to pack up the food at the end of the night so we could bring it back home with us. We had a large menu of items including samosa, paneer tikka and pakoras at cocktail hour, and then paneer, malai kofta, aloo gobi, mixed veg, pulao, naan, gulab jamun at the reception. Everyone loved the food!!
I would absolutely recommend them just to drop by the restaurant or to cater your next event - they will definitely be the talk...
