If I could put no stars, I would. I used to work there. The food taste good, yes. But the people are horrible. The business is corrupt. The workers in the back are not only illegal, but the owner does not let them take off any days, even when they are sick. They also work from open to close, every single day. I have seen them falling asleep, coughing, and sneezing while working with the food. They only hire young, arrogant teenagers to work there. They did not have any of us fill out a W-4, yet they took over 50% of our pay check, and said it was for "taxes", when we only got paid $2.13 an hour, anyways. They taxed all of our tips, too. And they took 8% of the tips AFTER being taxed for themselves. When I quit, they never sent me my last paychecks. I sent a message to both the IRS and the Texas Business bureau. They told me they could not investigate without me hiring someone to do so. Obviously if I was fighting for a crappy paycheck, I didn't have the money to hire someone to investigate. I had a friend who worked there, and he had a customer who had raw meat in his meal. My friend told the manager to have it recooked, and the manager said not to recook it because they didn't want to "make a scene". My friend obviously got mad and said they weren't right, and then asked them why they were also taking so much money from us. They fired him that day. If you eat here, you're feeding a corrupt system and hurting all the kids who apply there. There's much better sushi and Mongolian places that aren't corrupt!...
Read moreThis restaurant is situated in a strip mall that along I-35. A lot of businesses had changed hands in this area but Kublai Khan had been a steady fixture here - this should lead credence to its offerings. The mall now has AMC-run theaters, an Indian supermarket, Conn's, Petco, and other establishments.
They offer the traditional asian menu but their specialty is the Mongolian Stir Fry. Basically, when seated, patrons are each offered a stainless steel bowl. Then head on to their buffet of protein, sauce, veggies, among others. The price is reasonable at $11.99 - provided one doesn't overfill one's bowl with protein, otherwise there is a $3.99 surcharge tacked on to your bill. One can overfill one's bowl with the other non-protein items without issue. Then, the patron brings their bowl to the counter unto individual trays, pick options for noodles and for rice. Noodles would cost an extra $1.99, rice is included at no cost. After filling up options, patrons takesy a numbered card (from under their tray) and bring it to their table. When stir fried, staff brings over the bowl to the table. And that's it!
Servings were huge as both the noodles and rice added bulk to the bowls' contents. One would usually have their fill with plenty (a third) leftover.
Service was quick and the place offers plenty of parking as the strip mall isn't busy during lunchtime. Dinnertime mall traffic would still offer plenty of...
Read moreCame here today for lunch. Went through the line to make my meal. When I got to the pick your starch at the tray area, I picked the noodles and rice. I got the check and there was a 1.99 up charge. I wasn’t sure why. I asked the server and she told me that I picked two starches. I replied that it didn’t show there was an up charge for it. She said it’s on the new menu. Well there were still the old menus on the trays. She huffed and puffed She got another server and explained the same thing that there should be a sign there’s an up charge. There’s a huge sign that says if you pack in more meat, there’s an up charge. This server got pissed that I was just asking about it telling me there’s an up charge She rolled her eyes and stormed off. I thought she was going to throw down. Then the manager came over and we explained the situation saying there needs to be a sign. He showed me a menu online (couldn’t see as I didn’t have my glasses). He said he was planning on adding it to the menu but hadn’t yet. And mentioned the regular customers knew about it. Well I’m not a regular customer. He eventually took off the 1.99 charge. So beware that you’ll get charged 1.99 extra if you pick two starches. I’ll still come...
