We had eaten here last year and liked the food so wanted to come back to try some different dishes. I also like that they’re open later than many other restaurants in the area - until 11:30pm - since we’re late diners. That ends any positive thing I can say about the experience.
We arrived around 9:55pm and looked at the menu for about 15 minutes before deciding on uttapam, grilled paneer sandwich, tikka masala, and one other dish I forget. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. I could see that the one older man there (maybe the owner?) was completely alone with absolutely no other employees visible in front or back of house. Since we’d already ordered, were quite hungry, and had just paid almost $60 I tried to grant this man some grace for what I initially assumed was an unfortunate and unexpected situation where maybe an employee had no-showed.
But considering that another group of diners showed up about 25 minutes after we ordered, then got all of their food (brought out one dish at a time) before we got anything at all, I realize now that no, Bombay Express is just a poorly run restaurant where the basic customer service principle of “first come, first serve” isn’t even upheld.
I genuinely think he completely forgot our order while preparing takeout orders, then when the other group came in he just started theirs first and tried to play it off. When I tried to ask him about it he was just like one minute one minute!
Anyway, we finally got the last dish we ordered at 11:20, a full hour after ordering and ten minutes before they closed. We didn’t leave until almost midnight.
The food is ok but served on really cheap disposable paper and styrofoam and not worth sitting there for almost two hours. I’m never going to go back to a place where I’m considered a less valuable customer than another and made to wait for my food with no explanation, much less an apology. Really unfortunate considering there aren’t many truly vegetarian restaurant options in...
Read moreI was very disappointed with the Service with this place. I go there very often and even though they are going through construction and not an eatable looking indoor dining experience, I still went there and have been going there for years. The previous owners were amazing and now that they have sold the restaurant some new management and the service is just HORRIBLE. Dev the guy in charge along with the people working there, dont care about customer service. They are never at the front and they leave it up to the other spanish girls working there and they have no clue as to what is happening. Ive tolerated them for so long untill the day before. The standard of the food has also gone down drastically since the new management.
Evrytime I tell them something is off with the food, he jus nods and we move on. I ordered a Dosa the other day and they made me wait for 30 mins. After openeing it, the food was not cooked properly and I called right then and spoke to Madhu and she appologized and asked me to come the next day and get a refund. When I went in the next day, Dev got super aggresive with me and refused to issue me the refund as he says his food is the best and no one has issues. He went in all Indian on me and got aggresive and refused to give me the owners name and says he will refuse service to me in the future as I complained about the food and came to get a refund when promised by Madhu the cashier.
I would avoid this place going forth as the quality has gone down plus the fact that Dev got aggresive with me!!!
He needs to understand customer service when it comes to the restaurant industry!!! Very unprofessional.
I want the owners to repsond to my feedback and want a solution on this issue. I dont deserve to be treated by anyone espcially Dev the so...
Read moreThe food here is excellent and close to home-made, especially the Thaali. The Veg/Paneer sandwiches and Paneer roll are great too.
However the quality of their packaging for delivery is very poor. I had ordered thaalis today on Doordash this noon. I received the order with spills inside due to the broken lids on their curry boxes which are very flimsy. The boxes themselves are very cheap. The lids were broken inward in such a way that it is likely the broken plastic could easily spill into the curries.
When I called the restaurant the lady at the front desk was only interested in redirecting me to Doordash. She would hear nothing more and hung up on me without any courtesy. But the refund is not the only thing people care about when they call to report a bad experience. In this case there was a food safety issue they needed to be aware of. Also refunds fill the pockets but not stomachs when hungry. Hence people who answer the phone should care enough to ask and take feedback. I called again to discuss this and was reprimanded that I needed to be talking to Doordash and that she would not talk to me. I stressed repeatedly over the phone that the quality of packaging was very poor and also unsafe.
I understand the issue may have been accidental but given that this is very likely to happen again, I hope the restaurant takes measures to change its packaging and also employs a front desk that can demonstrate more patience to gather...
