I've stayed here a year ago prior to this months stay- Pros: Nice pool; quick and easy access to 1-5; walking distance of a Walmart and restaurants; close to the Domain, Tech Ridge, and a rapid public transit line so you can get in and around Austin fairly easy especially if you have a car (highly recommend having a car.)
Cons: Sometimes the breakfast leaves much to be desired; if your room faces the interstate, it can get noisy;
They need to improve protocols for security. I had an unfortunate situation with an employee that was acting as temporary security. I had just pulled up after midnight, and Was sitting in my car, finishing an important call, an a person walked up in plain clothes, with no identification, asking me if I was a guest at the hotel. This is Austin texas, off lamar, at night, and a complete stranger dressed in jeans, a football jersey and flashlight in hand, no badge, name plate/identification, asking me this while I'm sitting alone. Then he (Joseph?) demanded that I roll down my window. He could have simply asked me to show a key card? My car was even registered at the hotel. He got very upset that I would not roll down the window for a complete stranger and told me I needed to leave. I asked him how do I identify that he's an employee versus a random person attempting to rob me or bring me harm. He said "no one ever has a problem with me asking them this question." This is all happening in a span of less than 5 minutes, and escalates to the point of him yelling at me through my closed window and then walking off. Concerning and disturbing behavior.
Please, please be mindful who you give your information to because you could be endangering your life, and I was taking steps for that not to happen. The staff was not helpful with addressing the concerns, so after contacting IHG, IHG contacting the GM & there being no response, I sent an email to the GM. The GM mentioned illegal immigrants and illegal immigrants committing crime and snatching people from their cars...inappropriate conversation to have with a guest trying to address a concern that has nothing to do with immigrants, & in reality your employee could have been a criminal in my eyes since again, they were a stranger approaching me out of nowhere, at night.
No one likes to spend money or their hard earned points where this treatment is...
   Read moreIâm writing this a week after it actually happen to calm down from the following. This place at first seemed like a decent hotel until out of no where we were forced to leave with 3 days left on our reservation non refundable, because our room was âtoo messy.â I thought something is way off because we requested NOT to have the maid service clean our room (in the past weâve had belongings taken or mysteriously disappear). The message was clear to the maids and hotel staff, they were told in person to not enter the room. Out of total disrespect they went in our room anyways to tell the staff a complete lie that our room was too messy. Either that or the staff made up this story to kick us out. I immediately called corporate who didnât help or seem to care one bit. They told me the manager would come by to tell us exactly why we were being asked to leave, which never happened. We received a call from the manager saying we had 5 minutes to get out or they were calling the cops and the reason being the room was âtoo messyâ And when I tried to explain our request for NO maid service he just yelled over me to say 5 minutes and Iâm calling the cops! For being a manager at a hotel youâd think customer service was a top priority, NOT here! At this point my blood pressure was off the chart, and if it wouldnât have been for my GF calming me down thereâs no telling what I couldâve done. I was so embarrassed and felt violated, disrespected, pushed into a corner and forced out by some gay middle aged Mexican punk with zero class and no morals to say the least. If this places even hints at the word integrity they should be fined for false advertising and shut down. This is of great concern because pushing people to this point is very dangerous and unpredictable. This staff is horrible, every single one of them should be fired because of this childish treatment with abuse of their power. Be careful entering this place and know your best interest is not if there...
   Read moreWe went for a Memorial Day vacation. I work in the oil field and my vacation days are few and far between and this hotel consumed a majority of what was supposed to be an enjoyable weekend with problems and myself and my wife both arguing on the phone and with the front desk for the accommodations we had reserved and paid for. First, the hotel overbooked and gave away the specific room we had reserved with a separate living area and put us into a special needs room. Within minutes of entering our room, we went to the front desk to voice our complaints and seek a solution. The front desk shifted the blame on central booking stating they had listed our reservation as a no room preference. We were assured our specified room by booking. We then called central booking again and they stated that the hotel switched our room. This went back and forth for a good portion of our first afternoon there. That night I had stomach issues and slept on the ground so as to not disturb my wife instead of being able to sleep in the living area. The next afternoon I took the initiative to ask if a replacement room was available. I should not have had to take action. It should have been on the hotel staff to provide some sort of recompense or move us as soon as possible. We kept in contact with the booking department who first spoke rudely to my wife and stated there was nothing they would do. They could do a partial refund, free night, etc. But no part of the chain or corporate took any sort of blame or offered anything in response. They had our money and thatâs all they cared about. If you want adequate service and what you pay for, this...
