The Chilakillers absolutely deserves its five stars. I came on a Monday thinking they closed at 3 PM, but they actually close at 2. I arrived at 1:58 PM, and the cashier kindly told me they were already closing and couldn’t take more orders. I looked sad and frustrated with myself for arriving so late—I had been craving the best chilaquiles in Austin for weeks. She noticed and said, “Let me ask the kitchen and see what we can do.” I waited while my husband was also on his way from work to meet me there for lunch. A few minutes later, she came back smiling and told me they would take care of us. I sat down and was quickly helped by a super friendly server. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles with Longhorn salsa (my personal favorite), and my husband had the fajita chilaquiles with the same salsa. If you’re not great with spice, ask for the “no hot” salsa (it still has a bit of heat). We had horchata to drink and finished with a flan and a tres leches cake. Blown away by their exceptional chilaquiles! The LoneStar chilaquiles, in particular, stood out with an incredibly flavorful sauce that was simply unrivaled. I also had the chance to sample their other sauces, and they were all impressive, with the red sauce coming in as a close second.

The chilaquiles were perfectly crispy, and the portion sizes were more than generous. Additionally, I tried the Barbacoa, which was tender and delicious, adding even more delight to my meal.

Our waiter, Eliseo, provided outstanding service. He was extremely attentive, consistently checking in to ensure everything was perfect. His hospitality truly enhanced our dining experience.
