Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams — Restaurant in Austin

I've been to most of ice cream places in Austin and I must say Jeni's is the best! So far I've had their:

Brambleberry Crisp: tastes like a blackberry cobbler. Sweet and refreshing.

Gooey Butter Cake: tasted rich and well.. buttery

Blackout Chocolate Cake: a quadruple threat of ice cream, cake, fudge, and chocolate pieces

Brown Butter Almond Brittle: a combo of nutty, bitter, and sweet flavor flavors all packed in one rich scoop

Raspberry Rose Jelly Donut: chewy donut pieces with raspberry puree throughout, it's as if you were eating the actual pastry

So why is this place my favorite? It's because the ice cream has great texture. It has a thick consistency and each flavor has a unique texture such as the chewiness of the butter cake / chocolate cake pieces to the jelly in the Brambleberry Crisp.

Each flavor is also unique - no boring flavors like basic vanilla and chocolate. A bonus is they have calorie information online, so I know what I'm getting myself into before I come. I leave highly satisfied every time I come to...

How do I articulate the majesty of this ice cream parlor? Firstly, being a kind, quirky hipster seems to be a requirement for being an employee here! The staff is lovely and seem to all have eyes that say, “I have good taste in music and know how to have a wholesome time.” Was this shop designed by Zooey Deschanel? The aesthetic of this alternative utopia is simplistic yet unique. And the ice cream itself? The reason you’re probably reading this review? A symphony of flavor, each option is distinct and jarringly delicious. And the employees can give elaborate descriptions for each flavor, yet none of it sounds scripted. What more can I say.. one of the best ice creams ever! I got scoops of the famous Brambleberry Crisp and I got to try Gooey Butter Cake ice cream. I also tried Texas Sheet Cake, and if you are a chocolate lover, this is your flavor. Wildberry Lavender is a light, fruity, almost take like a sorbet because of how light it is. It’s perfect for spring and summer as a “refreshment” in an ice cream form. All delicious! The waffle cone is on the thicker side, a little sweeter than others but I think great value for your money. (About $7 for half a scoop of 2 flavors in waffle cone)

The twins who were working here the day I visited were so nice, friendly, and more than helpful. It was a bit busy but they did not made me feel like I’m being rushed when I wanted to try a few flavors. I wanted to take home a pint of Brambleberry but the fridge was empty.
