On March 14th and between 9:30- 11:30 am I experienced something pretty terrible outside of the Continental Club. I parked my car in a street spot in front of the Continental Club and noticed it had been vandalized. After speaking to the staff of Warby Parker and a group of pedestrians, it was determined the act was caused by an employee from the Continental Club.
The person who vandalized my car wrote horrible and rude messages on all my windows in a permanent sharpie marker. To top it off, he also taped all my doors shut. He was upset because I parked my car in the wrong direction and decided I deserved this punishment. The staff at the Continental Club did not want to come out to speak with me and after a few phone calls the manager came out. She was very rude and insisted numerous times no one from her business would do something l like this -- she almost convinced the pedestrians they were wrong. After a lot of back and forth explaining the situation, one of the employees finally admitted he vandalized my car. The manager gave me a very unauthentic apology and gave me every excuse she could think of.
I called the police and filed a report. Since there were no permanent damages to my vehicle, I'm not able to press any charges against this individual. The police forced him to clean my windows and remove the tape from the doors. He paid me $15 for a carwash but it doesn't take back what he did and the time I took away from work to deal with his behavior.
I'm local to Austin, a small business owner and I was appalled by the treatment I received -- I would be ashamed if someone who worked for me did anything close to this. Besides being disappointed with this experience, I never felt so disrespected.
Careful of visiting the Continental Club or at least don't park outside or near them, they take no responsibility for their employee's actions. I was in the area for work reasons and the next day I saw the same employee going back to Continental Club. He's old enough to be my grandfather and should know right from wrong -- I wouldn't be surprised if he did this again or something worse. He did apologize and said he regretted his actions but there is a big difference from regretting your actions and regretting you...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews, but our experience at this club was disappointing and honestly embarrassing. We came in ready to spend and support , only to find out it was cash only—no problem, we stepped inside to use the ATM neae the front. While trying to withdraw money, the door guy rudely escorted us away from the entrance like we were causing a problem. There was zero communication or courtesy, just attitude. We weren’t loitering, we were literally trying to get cash to come in and spend.
If this is how you treat paying customers, especially over something as simple as using an ATM, it’s a hard pass for me. Plenty of other clubs with better service and respect.
Update in response to the owner’s comment: I’m seeing the reply from the owner, and I’d like to clarify that what was stated is completely false. At no point did the doorman ask us to show any form of identification.
When he told us that only one of us could enter at a time to use the ATM, I immediately agreed and said I’d wait outside while my friend went in. Instead, he shoo’d us both away and said no, you both have to leave, and then shut the doors on us.
We were not drunk. We were not loud or belligerent. In fact, this was the first club we had been to that night. We were calm and cooperative, just confused by the unnecessary hostility.
There were multiple people in our group who witnessed this interaction, and there should absolutely be cameras that show what happened. This isn’t a case of “our word versus his”—it’s a case of poor treatment and then trying to...
Read moreThe club was an miserable experience. The music was great. We went early to get good seats and they sent us away. They seemed upset we were there. We came back exactly when they told us to and a line had already formed. There were only about 15-20 people in line, but when we got inside there were no seats. We sat on a step at some people's feet. A server brought drinks to the person next to us and offered us nothing- just told us to get up and that sitting on the step was a fire hazard. We asked for a chair and they said it was "first come, first serve"- which makes sense except we were the first to come and they asked us to leave. So we ended up standing the whole time- and honestly we were really tired. I tried to get a drink at the bar and they ignored me. I just gave up. The bathrooms are as bad as they say. So for us, only the band was good. The bar is dirty and empty, with some cool pictures on the wall of the good old days. The hospitality was nonexistent. They only addressed us 3 times- to tell us to leave and come back later, to tell us it's cash-only cover, and to tell us to stand up. They were REALLY not concerned at all if we were having a good time, and we weren't. I felt bad for the band, they had to work much harder to put us in good spirits. We left early when our feet gave out. I felt horrible for bringing a visitor here. Not the Austin I would have liked to share with them. I just kept apologizing to them about it the rest of...
