Krispy Rice — Restaurant in Austin

Extremely excited to try this place... until the food arrived. Box full of minuscule “sushi rolls” that look to have been prepared and cut by a child lacking fine motor skills. Fried shrimp filling was doughy with no crunch, the fried crispy rice was beyond greasy, and the rolls lack any taste/flavor whatsoever. There was no redeeming quality to this meal at all. I would rather have picked up a to-go sushi box from a gas station display than eat this garbage preparation. The price they charge for this level of inadequacy is preposterous. Krispy rice is patently unaware of what it takes to make quality sushi. If I had my way this franchise would be disbanded. my experience mirrors the previous reviews. I had a pickup order through DoorDash. There was serious disconnect between the information updates on DoorDash and reality. Chief among them was the fact that the food truck was out of items and they had no way to contact me to ask how I wanted to proceed. This meant that they essentially held my order for about an hour until we got there and told them to continue on. That is no way to run a business. Then, either one of the descriptions was wrong or they shorted me on the order as well. This might have been a door dash issue as I've experienced it several times at other places.

This was gross. I was EXTREMELY excited to try this as the original Katsuya crispy rice + baked crab hand rolls are basically my favorite foods. On first look, the food in the box looked fine but every single bite was worse than the last. The spicy tuna was greasy and the crispy rice was overcooked, and there was absolutely no fresh tuna flavor. The baked crab roll was mostly rice, smelled fishy and artificial and was devoid of flavor. I got king salmon and albacore sushi pieces as well, both of which did not taste fresh and had me concerned for my stomach in the middle of the night. Bad for any sushi, extra disappointing given this is the company that should know how to do it right. Maybe it serves me right for hoping for more in the middle of Texas but...
