Layali Austin Hookah Lounge — Restaurant in Austin

I’m here with my friends at least once a week or every other week. Since coming here coming here more, I haven’t wanted to go to the other hookah bars I’ve been to. I’ve gotten to know a few of the staff members and they are all amazing, and very accommodating.

They are connected to a restaurant so they’re food is authentic and pretty tasty; my favorite is the pizza.

They play amazing music from a variety of genres and have what I think is a dance “party” on Saturday’s that are the best thing to experience. Everyone gets up and dances with each other in the middle of the lounge; even if they don’t know each other, they dance, laugh and have fun....that’s how great the atmosphere is.

I’m really particular about smoking hookah because most places I go to, I end up with feeling weird after but I have nothing but good experiences here and I know it’s because of the great work the staff does.

The food is great and I've been here quite a few times. Today, however, I was very disappointed by the waiter. He was very rude. We came during lunch, sat outside, and it took him over ten minutes just to get us our menus. When he did bring us the menus, he gave us the dinner menus and left. I had to go back inside to get the lunch menus. He took another ten minutes just to come back outside to take our orders, and he didn't even pay full attention to our orders as he was talking to his friends who had just arrived. We had also ordered a hookah, so when he came back with the food and hookah, it took at least another extra ten minutes just for him to come back with the coals. This waiter never came to check on us or to move plates off the table. We had to go inside to find someone to give us our check. A group of us went for birthday and had a decent time. Waitstaff provided good recommendations for hookah flavors, and the food was good, but the bill was frustrating. They just tell you the total and give you the handheld device asking if you want to tip 6%, 7%, or 8% (or some small single digit numbers like that) so we also left a cash tip on the table. No where is it communicated or printed (not even on the menus that we could tell) that they’re asking for that ON TOP OF AN AUTOMATIC 20%.
