My brother and I stopped by last night during a work trip. As we were walking in, we noticed a group of women sitting at the bench outside. There was one woman sitting in the middle, that looked like she had WAY TOO MUCH TO DRINK, almost slumped over. We made our way to the bar, and the woman almost immediately sat next to us. She began yelling at a man across the bar claiming she recognized him. It was apparent man didn’t know her.
Then she began yelling at my brother asking him what his name was. My brother told her to not talk to him. If you’ve ever tried talking to someone that is way past their limit, you’ll know what I mean.
I tried to suggest to the bartender that maybe this woman needed to drink water. The bartender proceeded to serve her a vodka. I also told the bartender she was yelling at us and would very likely start a situation, if not with us, someone else. The bartender didn’t even acknowledge me. She then began to tap on the bar and tell us we owed her 9 dollars and change. We hadn’t even touched the beers yet. Common practice is that we get our drinks and are asked if we want to open a tab or close out.
I strongly believe the bartender was clearly ignoring the actions of the woman who was intoxicated in an effort to maybe get a good tip. She showed no care or concern towards the other paying patrons.
We expected a different treatment from Little Woodrows. I guess...
Read moreUpdate 7/17/24: I sent a message to the company to discuss the outrageous stalking and blackmailing by the bartender. No response. I gave my email and number - still no response. I guess the bar really does not care much about their patrons. Explains the NUMEROUS 1 star reviews that I found and liked
Update 7/6/24: the female bartender just ran in to me at a bar on 6th. She actually BLACKMAILED me!!!! She said - “i looked at your profile and saw you had a wife and kids; I almost messaged your wife but I didn’t want to”
I mean that’s technically illegal?
Unfortunately, the bartenders targets my friends for being black. My friend had initially called the manager out for targeting and staring at him and his cousin (both black). Well, suddenly the bartender says “sorry you have to leave bc you fell asleep” to my black friend who had sunglasses on because it’s 5PM in July outside. Not sure how they could tell he was asleep?? Told him he has to go. The woman bartender actually physically grabbed my arm and wrestled with me as I’m arguing with the manager about it. I called 9-1-1 because they technically assaulted me and my friend (bartender grabbed him without permission). The officer agreed with us. I mean it was a ridiculous story. Will never go back.
Funny thing is the bar next door had a bartender who said “yeah, I’ve seen that happen before there. Not sure...
Read moreI was staying at Canopy and decided to walk across the street since Star Bar was dead & I'm glad I did. I was in search for food but what I found was much more. The staff here were all friendly and upbeat. Shout out to Justin, Tito, Suavecito, and the Door Keepers for making me feel welcomed and safe . Coco was my bartender & she is a gem. Make sure you tip her well cause she's worth the $$$.The taco truck on site is convenient, great music & atmosphere. I will be returning next time I'm in Austin.
Update 6/8/2023 This is my go to bar, especially for sports or just going to the bar "where everybody knows your name." The managers Ryland , Phil , and Hammer (who is no longer there & now gracing Europe with his presence) are friendly, accessible, and dedicated to making sure everyone has a great time.Miley is a drop dead gorgeous, attentive bartender, who always has a smile and remembers you and your usual drink (tequila with an orange slice #youreWelcome), which gives you that VIP which is so rare these days . Now that I’ve moved to Austin this is my go to bar for weekday wind down and game day/fight night events.Extra dog friendly and the DJ addition is a win win. Ps bathroom selfies...
