Republic Square, now finished remodeling. Is very beautiful. Very pleasant place to just chill and read a book, or listen to music, or do yoga, or just hang out. After its remodeling finished it looks , and feels, very pleasant. The Farmer's Market takes place there every Saturday morning and it becomes more attractive with, besides the vendors, live music and other attractions. My name is Eden Joy, but I go by Joy Dolluxe, and I have added some photographs that I personally took and edit. I will be posting more over the time. This is a very clean park. The Downtown Austin Alliance are doing an excellent job in keeping this park clean. Besides, they are very friendly and helpful. They are there all day long. Some people say it's a quiet place in the middle of the downtown, I would say; not really quiet but very relaxing. You can still hear the noise of the busses, since is also a main bus stop, and is right in front of it. If you come to the park in the morning better bring a tarp or some plastic to set underneath the blanket you spread on the grass to sit on. Why? The grass is always very wet in the mornings. Do not smoke or drink alcoholic beverages without permission. It's an alcohol-tabacco-free environment. But, when concerts and events are going on all you can drink and smoke all you want (I think). If you see Joy Dolluxe say hi, she will give you a good conversation, awesome foot massage if you ask (for ladies only) and help you have a fabulous day. she's a very kindhearted and friendly Venezuelan-American trans woman whose positive vibes are very contagious even though she's homeless and struggling to get by. Please, help keep the park clean. Clean after your dog. There are also landfill trash cans and recycling trash cans, be mindful of that. Together we can made this place a better place to hang out. Mind that now with the "Lime" and "Bird" scooters fever everyone tries to ride inside the park which is prohibited. So if you are riding those things keep in mind that you are not allowed to ride inside the park.

Amazing park with beautiful scenery and architecture, this park serves as a hub for any and all bus routes leading to any area in Austin you wish to travel, here you have your occasional Street performers,,at times free music festivals,,food festivals amongst many other things, there's always something happening in this park,it does have unarmed security that patrols the area and are very friendly when approached and asked for information about the city,, this park is also pet friendly, very well kept but does require its occasional sweep from time to time,it sits amongst hunormous buildings that at night light up around the park which is also well lit and full of life, there is art and just across the street is a pick up bus that takes you out to a very quiet very peaceful town called Leander from there you can take the train back into Austin,it sits walking distance to many of the cities restaurants and fast foods if your hungry and has a little beverage/small eatery on its grounds, clean well lit restrooms, bench's to sit and enjoy the view and at night offer just enough lighting for some public affection, quiet conversations and strengthening new or old relationships,I enjoy spending time here,I hope you do the same

Republic Square in Austin, Texas, stands as a testament to the city's vibrant community and commitment to green spaces. This urban oasis, nestled in the heart of downtown Austin, offers a unique blend of modern design, historical significance, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Upon entering Republic Square, visitors are immediately struck by the harmonious coexistence of nature and urbanity. Lush greenery, neatly manicured lawns, and thoughtfully placed seating areas create a serene escape from the bustling city streets. The square's landscape design reflects Austin's emphasis on sustainability, featuring native plants that thrive in the Texan climate, contributing to the overall eco-friendly ambiance.

The spaciousness of Republic Square is a key highlight, providing an expansive area for various activities and events. Whether you're seeking a quiet spot for relaxation, a space for outdoor yoga, or a vibrant venue for community gatherings, Republic Square accommodates it all. The open layout encourages a sense of freedom and unrestricted movement, allowing visitors to explore the square at their own pace.

The square's design integrates seamlessly with the surrounding architecture, blending modern elements with historical references. The juxtaposition of sleek, contemporary structures against the backdrop of Austin's iconic skyline creates a visually appealing environment. The thoughtful placement of public art installations adds an extra layer of cultural richness, turning a visit to Republic Square into a multi-sensory experience.

The atmosphere in Republic Square is charged with positive energy, fueled by the diverse array of people who frequent the space. Families enjoying a picnic, professionals taking a break from nearby offices, and tourists soaking in the local charm collectively contribute to the lively vibe. The square serves as a communal hub where people from all walks of life come together, fostering a sense of unity and shared appreciation for the city's outdoor spaces.

While Republic Square provides an overall enjoyable experience, it's important to note a minor hiccup in the service at the coffee shop within the square. During my visit, the service was a bit slow, with longer-than-expected wait times for orders. While the quality of the coffee and the inviting ambiance of the shop compensated for the delay, addressing this aspect could enhance the overall visitor experience.

Despite this minor setback, Republic Square remains a testament to Austin's commitment to creating public spaces that cater to the diverse needs of its residents and visitors. The square's spaciousness allows for a myriad of activities without ever feeling overcrowded. Whether you're seeking a quiet escape to read a book or a vibrant gathering place for community events, Republic Square offers a versatile canvas that adapts to the desires of its patrons.

Republic Square in Austin, Texas, is a captivating urban retreat that successfully marries nature, architecture, and community spirit. The spacious layout and welcoming atmosphere make it a standout destination for those seeking a respite from the urban hustle. While the coffee shop's service could use some improvement, it doesn't overshadow the overall positive impression of Republic Square as a must-visit destination in the...

The good news: the City of Austin is investing in a major and long overdue overhaul of this long-ignored gem of an urban park. It should be a redesign worthy of the location in the heart of downtown. If the city is serious about promoting urban core living there must be open space and public gathering space with greenery that is accessible to all and conveniently located.

The bad news: the makeover will not effectively address the urgent need for a major transit transfer facility here. The City chose this as the primary transfer point years ago for most bus routes that come downtown, yet have never invested a dime in the infrastructure that most cities determined years ago were essential to any urban transit system, an inviting, attractive, and safe public space where large numbers of people can gather and wait to catch their connections. The City made Republic Square the default location for a transit center but inexplicably did nothing to make it work.

So today you see people waiting at bus stops that don't even have shelter from the elements. If the council comes to see the need for a real transit center at Republic Square it will be after the new construction is complete. Although some minor improvements are planned for bus riders it's too little, but it's never too late for the City to admit its errors and set...
