would say for as young & unique as this hotel vibe is the service by staff here is definitely not up to par. If the owner is trying to give a better experience than your average hotel Iâd definitely recommend for them to look into hiring better staff and then Iâd give them 5 stars all the way around. For breakfast I asked about different coffee options to one particular girl and an older Hispanic woman named Robin came over with RBF and seemed annoyed that I was asking her coworker questions (when they have more than one coffee option available) and started answering for her. I just wanted to know the difference between some drinks & robin responded âMILK!â , I said what? She said thatâs the difference is MILK, what do you want?! I said I like Starbucks coffee & then she asked her coworker to give me a vanilla latte. We pay for breakfast and drinks during our stay and i sure as hell donât pay this much for someone to act like they hate their job & are annoyed at me for asking questions before I have them make something I may not like. Then we asked a gentleman named Stefan a few questions about water & where to leave our plates after eating and he also had RBF & seemed annoyed that we interrupted him with what he was doing. He told my husband he should have got a tray when he got his breakfast, how was he supposed to know what when no one gave us a tour or instructions on how the breakfast buffet worked. Then the girl in glasses that was originally helping me with my coffee order had asked us TWICE if we want to pay for our breakfast after telling her more than once that the breakfast is included in our reservation(it was literally shown to us on the kiosk when we checked in). I had to point to the paper and tell her thatâs our name and she said oh yeah there it is Iâm sorry about that. And at one point I thanked this same girl and stefan for the coffee and for how great it turned out and he seemed like he didnât care to hear the compliment. He looked up at us from his conversation with his coworker then returned back to his very important conversation. After getting my food I sat down & was wondering where my coffee was ? I watched Stefan take a gentleman his drink to his table and he was super polite to him. He saw me stand up looking for my coffee & it was sitting at the bar with no one letting us know it was mine and ready he then said oh hereâs your coffee. After enjoying our breakfast my husband ordered another coffee for me because I was so uncomfortable then Stefan brought the 2nd coffee to our table and we told him thank you and he didnât respond and walked away. We then asked for water and he said itâs over there then pointed at a left side direction of him & when he noticed I didnât see where he meant he walked over to show me very annoyed. Then the tv in our room had someone elseâs name on it, (Caner) when I called the front desk i explained I wanted to make sure no other guest was given our room or would be walking in & the woman said well weâre having difficulties so if it doesnât change itâs not the end of world. Then at one point we wanted to change the tv channel and the tablet was glitching and not working so we just turned it off. Breakfast was great and great drinks but with attitudes like that from young people our age it ruins the entire experience the owner is trying to give to people who come here. We literally canceled our 4 day reservation we had for my husbands birthday weekend & checked out today ( 3/22/24) after getting into the hotel yesterday. We had to drive back home to avoid feeling so uncomfortable & staying confined to our room the whole time. We also didnât receive any room service or fresh towels. The experience was like coming to McDonaldâs for breakfast just better quality food, please do better. We were treated very poorly, the staff here is just very rude all the way around, especially robin & stefan. Itâs literally free to be nice to people, you get paid to help create a great experience to customers not run them off. The only one I can say was nice the whole...
Read moreThe only good thing about this hotel: the bed is large and comfortable. But then because the room is so small, they wedge it in against the wall on 3 sides so if youâre sharing it, that person has to climb over you to get out for any reason. They say the room is 110sqft. Maybe, but it doesnât feel like it. This place is cramped. If it was in Manhattan I would understand. But this is Austin, TX. Once you unpack more than a backpack, it gets cluttered and small real fast but thatâs ok because the only chair is not comfortable. The desk is a shelf, so donât plan on working from here if your laptop is over 15â It is not a place to relax. You donât use your room for that, apparently. This is one of those hipster hotels where they assume you need to join everyone else in a common area to relax. And if you like amenities - donât come here. Need an iron for your shirt? Itâs in the common ironing room. Yes that is a fact. Better hope nobody else is ironing when you need to get ready. Speaking of getting ready, if you like coffee in the morning, you have to schlep downstairs to the âcanteen.â There youâll find $4 coffee that is bitter and not even hot at 615am, and thereâs no milk or cream because âthe kind of bottle they use hasnât shipped.â Ok so you DO make aesthetic choices? Cool how about this: the can lights in the ceiling will strobe intermittently all night. Awesome choice for good sleep. Brand new hotel, they said. Temperature control in the room? No - put on a sweater. Or take off your clothes, depends on your issues bruh. But room temp is an aesthetic and aesthetically every room is the same. The photos donât do it justice and I mean that: it is unjustly portrayed as much more comfortable than it is. No parking. While youâre driving around looking for a place and call the hotel asking for a clue, they ask you to look it up online. While youâre driving. And they no, donât just have a recommendation handy because apparently nobody drives in Texas. And you will check yourself in at the terminal, where your room âis being prepared please stand byâ even though it is 845pm. So you need to get a person at the desk, after all. So this is the kind of place where independence is the standard unless you want to be comfortable alone, for that you better join the others. Itâs like someone grew up watching Barney, and then went on to design a hotel. The gym is ok for a hotel, but again everything is hipster-design so the weights are in Kg, with feaux hardwood bumpers. Weird Scandinavian feel, the only bench is really low, small and weirdly angled as if that design touch was mechanically appropriate for lifting weight. Maybe you need to take an online class to get the most of it, because like the bed and the amenities, it makes sense to nobody but thatâs ok because it proves that a hotel can...

Room has everything you would need for a short stay, and was cool to have the iPad function to control lights/temperature (no fan in the room). The blackout shades are PERFECT for sleeping late, would never know what time of day it was with them down, as well as a daytime privacy curtain. The vibe is very much cyberpunk, kind of fun if youâre into late night but probably not the most traditional hotel stay. My price for the weekend was about $120/night, which was much more affordable than most places nearby. I think they charged my credit card upon booking though, which was surprising and annoying, and pretty sure thereâs no free cancellation but canât confirm.
Docking a star because of the noise. I had a street view of Colorado on the 8th floor, no sunset view because thereâs a giant skyscraper next door, and the city noise was incredibly loud. With the shades down it was better, but canât imagine staying any lower than the 8th floor, youâll be hearing drunk people wandering off Sixth Street and pedicab drivers blasting music all night. More than the street noise were the noises from inside the hotel. I got lucky and everyone on my floor was very respectful, no talking in the hallway almost any time of day, even if they were coming back late. The only issue is that because the rooms are so small, all the doors are VERY close together, so anytime anyone is coming or going it sounds like theyâre breaking into your room, which is extremely off-putting especially as a solo traveler. Light sleepers beware (or bring earplugs, like I did).
Seconding a lot of opinions about the tight spaces, bed is jammed onto the far wall, and there isnât any luggage storage space really (I put mine in the small âclosetâ by the door, but if you have anything bigger than a carry on you might be in trouble). This place is great if youâre planning on going out on Sixth, everything is walking distance and the vibes of the hotel are really young and fun. Service was pretty good, there was a line at checkout and I had someone walk up to me to expedite so I could leave on time. If you have a car and donât mind the cost ($35 a night) thereâs a garage right next door at 600 Congress that I used. Note that the pedestrian entry is through the alley and in through the double door next to the loading dock, a little jarring if you didnât know to look for it. Otherwise, you can park further away for way cheaper, I just didnât want to lug a suitcase all around downtown when it was in the 90s.
Would recommend if you donât mind the tight corners/are solo traveling, my room was well cleaned and had everything I needed for a...
