I couldn't tell if it was my rumbling stomach or the sheer deliciousness of their food, but my visit to this place was quite the experience. I decided to check it out with my family during the summer when the UT Austin crowd seemed to have vanished, leaving behind an eerily empty and desolate landscape.
As we stepped into the restaurant, I couldn't resist cracking a joke with my sister-in-law, suggesting that maybe this place was a front for some undercover money laundering operation. I mean, there was absolutely nobody in sight - no bustling staff manning the front counter for takeout or curbside deliveries. It made me wonder if they were simply unpopular or facing some kind of misfortune. To add to the mystery, there wasn't a single Uber Eats order waiting outside either.
But curiosity got the best of me, so I ventured inside and placed an order. The menu caught my attention, and I decided to try their poutine. Let me tell you, it was a marvelously good choice. The flavors danced on my taste buds, and I found myself savoring every single bite. To my surprise, they also offered free drinks with the food, which was a pleasant bonus. The attention to keeping the place neat and straightforward was evident, reflecting a sense of care and pride.
As is my habit, I decided to pay a visit to the restroom, which, in my opinion, speaks volumes about the cleanliness and overall management of any dining establishment. I was pleased to find that it met my standards of cleanliness, further reinforcing my positive impression of the place. While the overall environment didn't blow my mind away, it did exude a distinct college town vibe. There was something about it that resonated with the youthful energy and spirit of a bustling campus, and that in itself held a certain charm.
Despite my initial doubts about the empty surroundings, this place surprised me with its delightful food, complimentary drinks, and a commendable level of cleanliness. It may not be the most visually striking or awe-inspiring establishment, but it captures the essence of a college town experience, and sometimes, that's exactly...
Read moreWe first saw mo’s on IG when a foodie had posted about trying out the cheesesteaks in Austin. To be honest we haven’t been super big on cheesesteaks, but the burgers they featured is what originally caught our eye. We also really liked the name and found out that they import their bread and meat steak from Philly and poutine for their fries from Quebec Canada which is super cool and also made us want to try the cheesesteaks and fries just because of that!
We got the fully loaded Steak Philly (1/2 mile) which was about 6-7 inches and it was soooooo much better and more flavorful then the one we had when we were in philly! The seasonings that they use on the meat gives it such a greater depth of flavor!
The burgers were also as expected… DELICIOUS!! We got the full mile on both, which meant we had 9oz of black angus beef (2 4.5oz patties). We tried the bacon bomber which was like a sweet and savory bacon egg burger and we also tried the cheese coma which had a katsu style cheese aka deep fried cheese on the burger. We we so impressed with the flavorings of the meat itself! You could literally taste the quality!
The fries they have are some of THE BEST we’ve had! We really enjoy a crispy fry and these were double fried giving you that perfect texture! The portions that they give are VERY generous and they live up to the name that they go the extra mile with first class food!
Plus we couldn’t skip on dessert! The Texas tornado is exactly that…. A whirl wind of wonder that will twist the taste buds in every direction! Its basically funnel cake fries, topped with cheesecake bites, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Totally a NEED!
If you haven’t checked them out, stop waiting and GO!!! They are 100000% worth the trip and...
Read moreUPDATE: Changed this to 4-stars after the owner, Mohammed, went above and beyond to right the restaurant's wrong. You can read below, but he apologized to both my wife and I about the first experience, while also comping our order and inviting us in for another meal on the house.
We enjoyed the food both times and appreciate the owner's attention to customer service. He also said he discussed improving the way they fulfilled orders, which is how our whole ordeal began in the first place.
ORIGINAL POST: One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in my entire life.
We ordered five burgers and an order of fries for pickup.
We were given a 25 minute estimate. We got there in about 40, but the order still wasn’t ready. The owner told us they were super busy and said it would be another 15-20 minutes. Alright fair enough.
But then while we were waiting, THREE groups of people who walked in and ordered AFTER we did, received their food.
In what world is this okay? Filling orders for people who’d ordered at least 45 minutes after we did?
We did not receive our food until almost 90 minutes after our initial order. I asked multiple times for the order to be comped, but instead was given excuses and offered drinks and dessert.
Completely...
