Never eating here again. I came in with my wife and daughter rhe other day. In the whole restaurant there was 2 other people inside, a couple teenagers sitting at the sushi bar. Nobody came to seat us. I walked in and approached someone and asked if we can sit anywhere. They said they'll send somebody to seat us. Well...atleast another 5min went by and nobody came. So we sat down. 5min later the server came to take our drink order. Those took 10min to get out. Then we ordered our food...oh boy. Never in my life have I found a hair in sushi, sushi chefs are usually phenomenal at their craft. But there it was... a loooonngg hair in my spicy yellow tail roll. "Eeewww" i look up to see my daughter pulling 2 hairs out of her bento box. At this point I'm done. I call over the manager Brian. I show him the hair on my plate, and on my daughters. This man really tried to say we put them there, first of all I have short black hair, my daughter has long blonde hair, so does my wife. These were long black hairs. I told him we'd be leaving and not coming back. He argued with me that we needed to pay!! I had taken one bite of sushi, my daughter hadn't taken a single bite. I gathered my family and left, and told Brian he could call the police if he wanted to. Brian if you see this...I know why you didn't call the police. Not only would they have laughed in your face. But they'd probably arrest you for serving alcohol to minors. That's right I saw the Sake and beers you served the teenagers. STAY FAR AWAY...
Read moreLovely space however had to wait a while for menus, then had to beg three different people just to order food. I usually go for sushi because it's a safe option that's not spicy or greasy. 90% of the sushi menu is spicy which left me about 4 options. I chose chirashi because it seemed to be the only logical choice. Then without the details on the menu they covered everything in chili flakes, wasabi, and garlic completely ruining my ability to eat it without stomach pains. Would never expect spice to be added to chirashi. Oh after the server didn't know what chirashi was. The Chirashi had about 2 good pieces of fish and included items like 1/3 of a sliced fake crab stick clearly from a grocery. Couldn't finish the rice because garlic was just embedded in it. This thing was 32 bucks and had nothing but subpar fish and not much of it. Way overpriced. Then they brought out the wrong item my wife ordered so we had to wait longer. The gyoza tasted like pockets of oil without much more flavor, the garlic scallops were overcooked so much they no longer even resembled scallops, and about a third of the fish was ok and the rest just did not taste good after scraping all the spices off of it. Took 3 requests to get the check so we could go. The atmosphere seemed lovely, the service was terrible, and the food was NOT worth the price paid and I went home hungry and annoyed. Probably...
Read moreNabe Sushi on RM2222 in the northwest corner of Austin is one of those few places where I would rate six stars if possible. My experience here was outstanding. The level of culinary creativity is a notch above any sushi restaurant I’ve ever visited. Everything was fresh as if it was swimming yesterday. Service was fully attentive, friendly, and prompt. The decor here is a dark base of wood furniture and dividers which contrasts with the window walls and colorful lamp balls, the aesthetics of which lend to a very pleasant atmosphere. I started with the Jalapeño Crunch Avocado Ball which has a delightful contrast of textures and flavors, including crab meat and goat cheese - m’wah! Next up was the Tango Mango Roll. I pretty much enjoy anything with mango and this did not disappoint. My next adventure was the We Need Protein Roll which features a thin layer of Wagyu beef on top; OMG, an absolute pleasure. All of this went down with Black Tea and a bottle of Sake. What a way to welcome myself to Austin, Texas. Highly...
