I really wanted Paco's tacos to come out as a five-star for me. But, alas that is not to be the case. The woman that helped me with ordering was very nice and spent the time to explain some options specific to what I was asking for. even though there was only two people in the restaurant I suppose there was to go orders and those took some time to complete so we waited about 12 minutes for our chips salsa and three tacos. we really wanted to get the chips and salsa first as an appetizer (we were dining in)however, since everything is to go they just give it to you all at once. I was disappointed at the amount of items actually in the flour tortilla.I understand that Portobello's are expensive and wasn't expecting many of those however the beans tasted like they came from a can so did the Chilis and the tortilla was really small and not anyting great. Then I went to my second taco, that had a distinct fish smell and even a fishy taste. After taking one bite, I returned to the counterthe young woman with dark hair who acted like she was the manager said oh no we're going to charge you for that since we made the food and had this disgusted look on her face. The other young woman simply asked what it was I wanted instead and put the order in. The onions were almost raw, the salsa was overpowered with enough garlic to kill the Covid virus and the attitude of the one person at the counter was the clencher. I was almost going to give them three stars but our experience was horrible. So for tacos, I will be looking for...

It's really unfortunate that a neighborhood place has to be so difficult about their five dollar credit card limit. I literally haven't experienced a restaurant who does this in over five years. It's super antiquated and they are plenty busy not to have this rule. The funny thing is the only person that ever makes a stink about this is the owner. And she was super rude about it.

I tip every time on my $2.75 Taco, I probably get tacos here at least 2-3 times a week.

The breakfast tacos are really the only thing that I like and you can't really mess those up. There are plenty of other places for good Mexican food, the lunch tacos in my opinion are terrible. If I'm gonna have to go out of my way to get cash, I'm gonna go to an authentic Mexican food trailer that's closer to my house. When I said this to the owner, she said that's fine and didn't care. As a business owner myself, I know that losing a customer over $1.50 and a few cents on your merchant account isn't what's important, it's about the word of mouth that your customers have. As a happy customer I literally tell people about this place all the time. As and unhappy customer I have the same tool. Is that worth it to you, Paco's?!

Then I asked for for salsas that weren't dirty outside (apparently it was just thawed ice) and the owner was trying to be extra nice but her daughter made a snide comment about them not being dirty.

I know you don't care about this one customer... But you should. That's just...

Carne guisada was tough and cold with no gravy just a pile of pico - that's not how you make carne guisada!!! Refried beans tasted like they were out of an can that was expired!! Never going back!!! Update: so I complained about the food and that I would never go back and the owner answered - "good". What kind of response is that??? If this is how your customer service is I encourage everyone reading this to take this off your list of places to go!! I've lived here all my life and there are MANY other Mexican restaurants to go to - but due to Covid I was trying to support local businesses!! If you can't take constructive criticism and answer professionally - you have no business being in the customer service industry!! All you have to do is open a cookbook and learn how to cook carne guisada!! I didn't even ask for a refund because I know how restaurants are struggling!!! So add unprofessionalism along with the fact you don't know how to cook!! And by the way - tell your wait staff to follow covid procedures - nobody had a mask - and when they gave us a plastic fork because they said "they hadn't had time to wash the dishes" - they had no gloves on - but she promised me she had just sanitized her hands!!! You wanna be tacky - bring it - I can add even more to...

Paco's is always a good choice for a delicious taco. The "Hook Em" is one of my favorites, but I've never had a bad meal here. It can be a little pricey (~$6 per signature taco), but worth it when you think about how much anything costs these days. The Breakfast Tacos are huge, and amazingly delicious. Carne Guisada, Carne Asada, and Fajita Tacos are all worth the money, as well. I'm just glad Paco's has stayed open so long, and continues to provide the same consistently good quality that they did when they first opened, many years ago. The decor is funky & entertaining- plenty of cool knick knacks & old signs to look at, inside & out. Staff is always very kind, food comes out fast & hot. Oh, and they always have at least 5 different types of salsa, which are each delicious & unique- ranging from Spicy Honey Habanero down to a Mild Red Garden Salsa. The outdoor seating area is pleasantly arranged, mostly shaded, and inviting. The high rock wall in front helps you forget that it's located on such a busy street, which is nice for a mid-day lunch or early breakfast alone, or with friends.

Absolutely amazing spot for Tex-Mex… Queso is good. Gorditas and tacos are great! Lots of outdoor seating for the when the weather is nice.

It's a shame it's taken us so long to eat here. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, the hubbs had the shrimp enchiladas with red sauce, and we ordered some bean & cheese tacos to-go for the kiddo to have for supper. The food was amazing - these folks know how to cook shrimp! They popped, just like they're supposed to - meaning they weren't overcooked and chewy. The rice was buttery and delicious - the best I've had eating out in Austin - and the beans were perfect. The chicken in my enchiladas was stewed, juicy, and full of flavor. We washed it all down with margaritas on the rocks, which were equally as delicious as the food, and some of the best and most reasonably priced around. We'll be back sooner than later to try more from the menu!
