Sankalp was as absolutely delicious the flavors of the food were great. Ate there last night for the first time and I had a chicken curry dish with garlic non buttered Naan and my lady had a paneer dish which we both highly enjoy and both are anticipating to return to try out all the other numerous entreés on their menu. We felt we had more than 1 server it was kinda awkward towards the end of our dining experience that one server named minni I believe asked me to leave a Google review and mention her name when all she did was grab our finished plates at the end before we left. All I can say for sankalp is to have one dedicated server for a certain number of tables instead of a guy with another girl assiting him which was odd no idea if he was new and training then having one different young woman as a busser grab our plates and mention to have her in a Google review when she wasn't our server at all... So overall I just can't give anyone dedicated credit on their customer service skills and being a great accommodating server. Will be back next year. Have a great new year sankalp restaurant. Hope to have a better experience with one dedicated server like I had previously in the past at another popular Indian restaurant called Sangnam Chettinad off Parmer & McNeil here...
Read moreI visited Sankalp in Austin with high expectations, especially seeing their 4.7-star rating — but honestly, it felt more like a 2-star experience.
The food and service were strictly average, especially considering the prices they charge. I started with the Manchow soup, which was served cold. There were no fried noodles until I asked — they admitted they had forgotten. Then we ordered the Pav Bhaji Dosa. While the dosa itself was good, the coconut chutney had a strange taste and the sambhar was watery and cold.
Next, I tried the Manchurian Frankie, and that was just bad. If you’ve ever had a real Manchurian Frankie in India, you’ll know what I mean — this wasn’t even close.
To make things worse, no water was served or placed on the table — something that should be basic before the meal even starts. I had to ask for it.
Finally, I ordered Rasmalai, which took 15 minutes to arrive — just to be served in a small bowl. Ironically, it tasted good, likely because it wasn’t made in-house.
Throughout the meal, no server seemed assigned to our table, and nobody was attentive or responsive. It felt like no one was really in charge of ensuring a smooth dining experience.
Overall, this place did not live up to the hype, and I won’t...
Read moreGood things first: Food is good and there are good vegetarian options. We ordered Medu Vada but we were literally served fried doughnuts. Please check the photos if you don’t believe me. The soup was good and the currys we ordered were tasty as well. The owner made sure they served tiny idlys as well which was not there in the menu. This was nice to see even though they were busy.
Here is the service experience:
We visited this restaurant on a Saturday and this was just inside a month of opening.
You get inside the restaurant and wait on by sitting on chairs and sofas right in front of the customers face. Wait time to get the table was 15 minutes Wait time to get the menu was 7 minutes Wait time to get the food was 22 minutes
The owners were nice but they definitely streamline the process and learn from other experienced restauranteurs. They need to keep the tables and floors clean. They were dirty as hell. I have added few photos. The workers at the restaurant were clueless about the steps. The restaurant needs to make sure they employ a few more employees and assign them dedicated tasks.
Anyhow, overall this is the rating: Food: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Service: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Atmosphere: ⭐️ ⭐️
