My friend raves about Boba Madness so I finally decided to give it a shot there. The service wasn't that good. I asked the person taking my order to give me all toppings except jelly. He seemed confused. He called another person and she looked even more confused at my request. I finally gave up and said to give me the item as is. I also ordered a box of macaroons which were hard and stale. I'm talking toast-hard. It crumbled like a toast too. How stale does a macaroon have to be to get a crunch like toast? Can I get my money back? Seriously! Given that a boba and 6 macaroons cost me around $25, I was expecting at least decent macarons. The boba was okay, nothing to ride home about. I think there's a hype around Boba Madness because they use all the different toppings they have, but it's a confusion of flavors and you can barely taste the tea. And their puddings lacked distinct notes. Not sure if it's because everything was jumbled together. I tried to taste every individual item and was very disappointed with the puddings. They also need to clean the outdoor tables because one was extremely dirty. I also asked about their rewards program and they said I can only get points if I order through the app. They did not mention this before I placed my order. If they are trying to push the app, the cashiers should let customers know because the standard procedure for any boba place is giving them your number and getting the points or getting a little punch card for each drink you ordered. So, this is absolutely ridiculous. Anyway, I won't recommend this place. I'm sure there are much better boba places...
Read moreTeapioca lounge is just like your average day Starbucks, just replace the coffee with tapioca milk teas and there you have it. Like any other Asian tapioca shop, you can get a variety of cold teas with an assortment of fillings like the standard tapioca balls or others like lychee jelly. You can also get smoothies and shaved ice here along with some Korean pastry cakes. They're almond milk tea, my standard tapioca spot tester, does not have a powdery texture like other places would have nor overly sweet. However, every time I've gone here, their tapioca balls have always been under-cooked. Besides that, their teas are decent and fun to drink with their filling options.
What Teapioca tries to do is make it a place where you and your friends can hang out. They offer free wifi, a TV with Google chromecast support, and variety of board games like MGS Risk; if you don't know what "MGS" stands for, it's probably not the board game you're looking for. They also have a large projector and screen, but I've never seen it being used. I guess they sometimes hold screenings of movies/shows? Not exactly sure, but this place does seem to give an accepting vibe to those with a gaming or...
Read moreI've occasionally visited over the years but have better appreciated the other local locations for their consistency of quality in product and service. I decided to try the 44oz of Thai tea today since I was nearby from a lunch spot. When I went to claim my order (two smoothies and the 44oz Thai tea) I realized I was given the 22oz to which I pointed out to the barista. I then patiently waited for its remake.
The barista appeared with a 44oz Thai tea, but a nearby standing customer immediately claimed it. At first, I assumed it had also been a part of her order since she had ordered before me. It wasn't until the cashier was trying to identify the unclaimed smoothies did I realize the barieta had given it mistakenly to the previously mentioned customer.
The cashier intervened, got another 44oz cup, and quickly appeared with a filled cup of Thai tea and offered a small apology. It turns out it was poorly mixed with most of it being a half and half creamer consistency with bare minimum Thai tea. By the time I realized this, I had already driven home so I decided to call. 7 rings, no pick up.
I'm deterred from returning to this...
