ThunderCloud Subs — Restaurant in Austin

After placing an online order and showing up 5 minutes after the pickup time, I walked into get my take out order. When I walked up to the “pick-up” counter I was rudely asked my name and was rudely told it wasn’t ready and would be another minute or two. I said that was perfectly fine and went to sit. I saw the guy making pick-up orders place a bag on the counter so I walked over to nicely ask/see if it might be mine and I was rudely told “if you can’t tell we are busy and your order is not ready.” I work in the service industry myself, so I know leaving this review could sting. But at the same time, I work in the service industry. 1. That shop was not busy for the amount of employees working at the time I was in there. 2. No matter how “in-the-weeds” you might be or feeling, it gives you zero excuse to be rude or angry at anyone. I work in very high volume bars and have never for any reason snapped at a customer who was just trying to pick-up an order and even tipped. To the older fella with facial hair and looked and appeared unbathed, get a new job. You sir are what is wrong with our industry and if you can’t handle one hour of business at sandwich shop…good luck anywhere else. Maybe 7-11 is a better...

Worst Thundercloud experience ever in Austin. While making my sandwich the "night manager" added mustard when I had only asked for mayo on the sandwich and instead of getting a new slice of bread she wiped it with the knife. Yellow mustard was visibly still on the bread.

I ignored it because no big deal. Then I asked about the brownies and if they contain nuts. She says I don't think so. I said at that point can you ask a manager because my son has life threatening food allergy to peanuts. She said I am the night manager. Another employee jumped in and said they did not contain peanuts.

Then I asked if she could give us a bag or something to carry the three combo meals with bags of chips, Brownies and a drink. She literally placed a plastic bag on top of the order, after I gave a generous tip.

The entire time no common courtesy, no kindness or anything. The vibe was very "I hate my job and everyone is going to know".

Never coming to this location again. I'll stick to the one near Mopac and...

Every thundercloud we’ve ever been to has always given a half ass performance in caring about your sandwich. Yes it’s delicious, but it’s thrown together and 80% of the things you request are ignored or forgotten in seconds.

NOT HERE!

Today was amazing. We show up to get two subs. The guy making them, wish I knew his name but he wears a cowboys beanie and has a GREAT attitude, took so much care into our sandwiches.

Remembered everything from the beginning (I try to go slow because things get missed) but he had it all on lock.

Not just that: not only did this guy make the most perfect sandwiches we’ve EVER received from a thundercloud… but he asked us what we thought about them before wrapping them up. He had excellent customer service and excellent workman ship. GIVE THE MANS A RAISE.

This is my thundercloud from now on (being in the middle of 4 locations) because of this experience.
