Violette Bakehouse — Restaurant in Austin

Okay... I have to preface this with: I am not a "sweets person". My wife has asked me since the day we met (my birthday was upcoming), what I want on my birthday for dessert. Every year and time, I have to reassure her: "I genuinely do not want dessert, please."

That said, these beautiful cupcakes showed up at a going away party I went to. While I was full from dinner, one look, and I knew I had to try one. Just a bite. As someone at the party put it: "when a pastry chef brings dessert, you can't not try it". And that I did. I chose butterscotch. Light, sweet, but not too sweet!

One bite and... Well one turned to two. Then three... It was almost gone, and I was... Sad? So understandably, my wife confusingly wanted to try mine as she hadn't seen this before. Hold on, like our friend got us cookies from a recent trip to Rome, and I haven't even been that way about those. So as you could imagine, I didn't 100% want to share 🫣 this was unlike me on every front.

All of this to say, I now have an answer to the annual birthday dessert question (if you're reading this...

I am so happy with my experience with Violette Bakehouse! I’ve never ordered a custom cake before and I found this bakery on Google Maps. I looked at the pictures and didn’t see anything related to what I was looking for so I filled out a super quote form that was listed on the website. I described what I wanted and I was surprised that I got a response right away. She gave me multiple options and sizes for the cake I wanted!! Her pricing was a really great and I ended up ordering it the next day! I sent her some inspiration pictures but I wasn’t really picky, so I basically told her to create something based on my inspo pics and I am absolutely thrilled with the result. I transported the cake to two places for pictures before I even cut a slice because it was so beautiful!!! Stephanie was super great to work with and she was on top of everything. She has delivery options so she sent it straight to my house and it was so easy and stress-free. I will definitely be ordering...

She was responsive as soon as I sent an inquiry, and off the bat just KNEW what I wanted (even when I didn’t)! I gave her a general aesthetic I enjoyed, and she offered the best suggestions.

She was always quick to answer any of my questions, and delivered the final cake to the venue. Her prices are incredibly fair and I can not believe how perfect the cake turned out. She created delicious, edible art for us for a birthday celebration.

Everyone at the event oooh’d and awwww’d when the cake was unveiled, and raved over how delicious and decadent it was. We had people tell us it looked even more elegant than their wedding cake! And we had folks lining up for seconds (and thirds).
