Went here for lunch yesterday, what a delicious experience. Located in an easily accessible location with ample parking (probably enough for 8-10 cars, which was plenty the entirety of the time I was there), they got the food out hot and fast!
Ordered the jerk chicken, Plantains, and beef patty. The chicken was crispy where it needed to be and juicy all around, seasoned expertly and full of spice and flavor. Truly some of the best chicken you can get in Austin. The Plantains were crispy with the right amount of sweetness, and definitely shouldn't be passed on. The beef patty was fine, but the chicken was truly the star of the show.
My friend got the brisket wrap, and let me tell you, do NOT SLEEP ON THE BRISKET. Incredibly moist and uniquely seasoned, this brisket has delicious flavors unlike any other I've had in Austin.
Their sauces are magnificent and really elevate everything even further. Their standard sauce was my favorite and packed a decent spice level, but not high enough where I'd warn my spice-intolerant friends. A good heat level for everyone. Their hot sauce was good too and as somebody who loves spicy food I liked how it had complex flavors rather than just heat.
Plenty of outdoor seating, good music playing, easy parking, friendly and helpful staff, and above all some of the most amazing food served quickly in large portions at a good price. Shout out to Winston and the entire team, yall deserve to be making money hand over fist with...
Read moreService was OK. But the food I mean, it wasn’t dry but being Jamaican genetics and Trinidad and culture raised the food was kind of bland. There really wasn’t any flavor to the meat or the rice. It just kind of tasted like the fat from the oxtail didn’t have like a Caribbean flare like it wasn’t sweet or bright or anything like that, I wouldn’t say it was necessarily bad but I wouldn’t write Home about. decent portions The pepper sauce kind of tasted kinda like they weren’t trying to offend anybody. It just really feels like great grandma needed to come around and keep the Standards up. Almost feels like they’re pandering to the local Texan pallet. Shame because I can’t really find a legitimate Caribbean place in Austin that truly serves authentic tasting food that really has that punch that you get when you go to the Caribbean. I’ll come back probably for some thing if other people want it that are not Caribbean blooded but I wouldn’t bring my cousins if...
Read moreWell I'm wondering if I should order. I thought it was a restaurant. I get here & even better - "it was a truck!" with other trucks around the back of an old bank. It says AUTHENTIC, BUT No oxtail, No Goat, No curry period. They have a great fish but "it ain't stewed fish" Seems basic & I saw a white hand coming out the truck. Still thinking.
UPDATE: I ordered a combo of Meats so I'd have more to experience. What AN AWFUL experience: Instead of Peas n Rice they were kidney beans & not Jamaican style rice. The plantains - old & dried out like ystrdy, & No Flava, the Curry Chicken had a bland sauce, w/no kick & very lil of it. The BLAND Meat were quite tender (🍖 the 2nd was Brisket. How Texas vs Jamaican is that), so the sauces were held responsible for a job they couldn't deliver on.
I'm removing 2 💫 should be 3 stars. But... they were kind enough to keep 2 of the 5. But kindness isn't *Authentic Jamaican -...
