Prepare to be wowed... We walked in to Taki's were greeted with friendly hosts and seated immediately at a nice table. All the tables are great there are no bad tables. The waitress was prompt, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about the indgredients and preparation of menu items. We opted to start with the avgolemono soup and the saganaki cheese along with a salad .... wow the soup was absolutely beautiful redolent with chicken Orzo and plenty of fresh lemon flavors the best I've had in the USA. The saganaki also wowed us with its buttery lemony cheesy deliciousness. The salad was fresh and clean lightly dressed like a salad should be. For Entrees we ordered the special Pastitsio which was outstanding and the roasted lamb loin over Orzo, mushrooms, blistered tomatoes and spinach with a kefalotyri demi glace wow We also had a nice bottle of white wine which was mineraly with citrus overtones. We were both so full we had to take the rest of our dinners home with us. One the way home we both remarked that we can't wait to go back as we want to try everything on the menu. The only negative thing I could say is the menu print is so small it's hard to read bit no worries you can't go wrong with any choices here that is obvious! I highly recommend this little gem located in beautiful Avon Lake. We can't...
Read moreThe resturant was very clean and staff was very kind. The patio was also very beautiful and inviting!
We had some good and some bad experiences with the food: Good: -The spanakopita was the best I'd ever had. Very buttery and delicious! The sangria was very good. Pita + rivithia was fresh and delicious!
Bad: Calamari had a very strange texture. It wasn't soft or rubbery, somewhere in between. It was half chewy? I've never had calamari with such an odd texture. Also flavor wise it was off putting. Not a fan! -Sea bream was very dry and flavorless. My partner didn't eat much of it at all, and we didn't want to take it home. My steak was overcooked and chewy, salad was fine, fries were fine. Sadly my side of pita that came with it was forgotten and I had to ask for it. I asked for my steak medium rare, I'll include a photo of what I received. I'd call it a solid medium, light pink on one side, cooked through on the other.
Now I know I could have sent these dishes back, but I judge a dish how it comes out the first time. And I'd have sent back nearly our entire meal.
Overall for how expensive it was, I was pretty disappointed. Maybe we came in on an off day, but in my opinion no matter what time of day it is, your food should always be top notch. This visit makes me hesitant to try...
Read moreI was in town visiting from a more rural area of the US and put "good Greek food" on my to do list while visiting. Found this place and OMG!!! So good, we went back twice in 4 days. This is the real deal, not a takeaway away gyro shop. So many truly authentic dishes on the menu, I wish I had more time to go back and try more of them. I am going spell everything wrong here, I'm sure. Had Dolamades and Mousaka one night. Spanokapita, the flambe cheese, and the lamb shank with orzo next night. Others had a shrimp and beef kabob special, and a lamb ragu, plus we had signature cocktails and wine. Unbelievable!!! Our servers, wish I could remember their names, were both wonderful and knowledgeable, and greatfully put up with us asking a million questions. Oh and the dessert! Of course we said no, being so full, but then decided to get one for the table to share and ended up getting into a spoon fight over it and licking the plate clean. Cannot recommend this place enough. It is the true meaning of a Hidden gem. If you have family in town visiting, this is the place to take them. They cook like family & treat you like family, and you'll leave with a smile...
